Let's talk about that Convention bump

Most people don't tune in to watch a convention. The ones that do are more deeply political and watch in support or hate watch the opposition. The most some undecided voters will do is watch the acceptance speech. And if it is good, the candidate gets a temporary bump in the polls. So all the Joe Campaign has to do is figure out how he can give a virtual, but telegenic speech.
The rest of the convention is unimportant as far as votes.

Trump on the other hand should go ahead with a giant maskless shitshow in the middle of Corona Central.

But who gives a shit about Trump.

The Biden team has an opportunity to command all the screens - interactively, democratically and immersing us all in a new form of political experience. All lot's happened in the past few month's and virtual events are maturing at a phenomenal rate. The best ones keep it simple, focus on wonderful speakers and content, involve the audience and get us all talking and ACTING TOGETHER. Yes, we can !! We are a movement for good.

but it's the speech that gets new voters. I think the DNC virtual convention will be a plus positive in the end.

Vanity Fair is reporting the Jacksonville love fest will likely be cancelled, now that the state requires masks.

Without alive audience supplying the scripted applause and cheer, it will be a true clown show as Republican after Republican talks to the audience, seeing who can outperform each other in their verbal fellatio on Donald Trump.

And talk about what exactly?

Trumps great and noble character? Or his (their) policies. I can't wait for them to explain-

Why caging children is an American value?
The wall that Mexico didn't pay for and is falling apart?
How a small bump in re-employment is somehow a Trump economic miracle?
Why we need to protect and defend the treasonous Confederacy?
Why the Russian bounty on US soldiers is a hoax, because everything Russia related is apparently a hoax.
How Trump's initial inaction and continued pro-virus response is good for the health of all Americans and therefore we need to kill Obamacare as quickly as possible.

Of course they can't focus or sell their record, so it will be hatefest against the solid majority of American people who want to see this Organized Crime Party RICO'd.

I think conventions were always more for the fun of it than for real politics. And most people might realize it's not going to be much fun worrying about getting Covid-19.
