The territory was never ceded to the United States so they claim it as their land.

The US has continued to break the treaty on several occasions (mining gold, carving faces into sacred mountains) and they have never accepted the offers of money or recompense for the infringements.

They were peaceful and they shamed the police and National Guard.

I hope no one shows up for the event for dump and dense and the rest of the elephant droppings.

The number of police, especially in military riot gear, is disproportionate to the situation. It's orderly with no violence, but so ugly. TV coverage is not mentioning this at all. There's a seated crowd with a band about to play, and a helicopter on the pad nearby, presumably trump.
