Years ago a good friend of mine ran into Carlos in a hotel elevator. He still talks about their fabulous conversation which continued in the lobby.

4. I was at the San Francisco Fillmore in '68 (I believe)

when Bill Graham introduced "some bay area guys with a unique sound."
Santana before their first album--they blew my mind--Latin flavored rock.
Three conga players and a trap set and Carlos on guitar. I would fly student
standby from Oregon, long haired, patchouli oil, back pack, go to the Fillmore,
do my business and fly back. Fun days. Then I was expelled from school.
