The "Donald Trump thinks Operation Desert Storm was in Vietnam" thing going around is misleading.

Yes, the "swift and swiffian" sentence was a hot mess, but the Tweets from Laurence Tribe and others cut off what precedes "into the jungles of Vietnam" line that make it clear Trump was not saying Desert Storm was Vietnam or that Vietnam was a swift victory. In context where you see the full construction, it's basically:

"They launched from air craft carriers in World War II. They flew over Korea. They carried people into the jungles of Vietnam. They delivered a swift victory... in Operation Desert Storm."

It's probably why at least one of the Tweets about it was removed.

Trump doesn't need our help looking dumb and dishonest. Let this particular one go, ya'll.

It isn’t a stretch to say he has no clue about Vietnam or Desert Storm.

The more the mangled sentence is played, the worse he looks.

Just having him and his supporters try to explain it makes him look pathetic.

That’s the point.

Make him deny his stupidity and play it on a loop over and over again.

Definitely not letting this one go.

Think trump and his people would be fair? Or would they ridicule and misrepresent the content?

I'm not saying the "swift and sweeping" bit isn't worthy of ridicule. I'm saying that implying Trump thinks Vietnam was a swift victory that involved Desert Storm is dishonest and EASILY discredited, when we have many other stronger arguments. To say otherwise is to say, "I am OK with dishonesty if it defeats Donald Trump."

problem. I watched that speech and I couldn't figure out what the hell he was saying. And, as far as your advice to "let this one go"... we have let so much "go " with this man that I'm not willing to let anything go from now on. If Joe Biden had done this, he'd be swimming in ridicule.

He should not talk about things he does not understand. No one in trumps entire family through history ever served America.

the schweeping, schwift, swiffer stammering that proceeded it.

It did throw me off for a minute when he talked about Vietnam then Desert Storm and then jumped back to Vietnam, but his speeches are always so disconnected that I didn't think much about it.

The difficulty pronouncing words, however, does concern me.
