I have to admit, though, I've always wondered if one of the writers knew the Kardashian family either work-wise or socially, and thought it might work as the name of an alien species. "Star Trek" writers have had to come up with MANY different humanoid species as well as non-humanoids, and when you're a writer, you pull ideas and inspiration from everything and anything. And maybe, if that's true, said writer came across, and decided to play with, the name "Kardashian" just ever so slightly so it wasn't a full-on as-is borrow. Tweek it a little. Maybe spell it a wee bit differently.

The Kardashian family patriarch, Robert Kardashian, was on OJ's defense team back in the early-to-mid 1990s and was a very successful attorney, who lived with his family in an elegant part of L.A. where lots of celebs either lived or hung out. His kids knew OJ's. And other sons and daughters of VIPs as well. Including LOTS of people in "the industry." Many of them writers.

Just guessing. But it just seems to be a little too much of a coincidence, to me.

31. Here's an odd fact from history...

My mom went to Jr. High School and High School in the 50's with both the younger Takai siblings and Robert Kardashian's siblings and cousins; in fact, one of her friends was a Kardashian sister for a year or two until that family moved up and out of the general neighborhood.

Looking through her yearbooks, at the time Dorsey ( and to some degree and Los Angeles High School) were fairly integrated with the Los Angeles minority, immigrant and refugee (from Japanese -American and European internment camps) communities at that time.

Many of her classmates ended up in theater arts or working in Hollywood as extras or crew.

George Takai was in the student council when she started High school. It's possible George and Robert may have known each other.
