This cop should be identified and fired immediately. And any court cases where he provided testimony should be reviewed by defense attorneys for potential bias.

I had a black roommate and when he and I walked downtown, people would slow down
and roll down their car windows and yell "n****r lover" to me. Quite educational. Turns out
Salem and Oregon in general have a long history of racism.

Didn't last too long there either. I just wasn't the college type.
I lived in Springfield, just down the road from Ken Kesey's place.

I've been hearing that for a long time, but never believed it was to this extent. It's incestuous.

I guess I would say that he does have the right to free speech.

But as a Police Officer, I would also say that his involvement in any case should be reviewed for bias.

I would also say that the Police Department, should be concerned about his involvements that he might have with the public that might have involved people that were not straight white males.

I would expect that any attorney would challenge his personal bias in any legal activities.

As a citizen of that community I would expect the Department to filter what police actions he can respond to or be involved in, due to his beliefs.

I would question a Police Department as to whether or not they would be able to send this officer to backup or provide support to other police officers that might not be straight white males.

Aside from that, I respect his right to free speech.

As a public servant on duty in uniform, he does not.

As for the Department filtering "what police actions he can respond to or be involved in" that is absurd. A dispatcher does not have time when assigning units to calls to filter which officer is the best to respond. If this officer has a clear racial bias he is a danger to anyone he considers "other" and should not be allowed to serve in that position.

Even then, I expect sworn officers to not be outwardly biased against anybody. I wore the uniform of US Army for over 20 years and I think at any time if I were to throw a white power sign in uniform my career would have been over. It would have been over because I forever couldn’t be counted on to be unbiased in my duties. It would affect order and moral, and thus could compromise the mission.

Sometimes, it’s just plain wrong, and I think that young officer blew it. Like you say, it opens the department up for review of old and new cases. That, in itself would not be welcomed by the department.

Even though it is known for a FACT to exist by our government.

https://theintercept.com/2017/01/31/the-fbi-has-quietly-investigated-white-supremacist-infiltration-of-law-enforcement/

Nothing in this country will change until we root out all the racist cops from law enforcement. If they are in law enforcement, they are in other government offices.

Racism is systemic and the roots are deep.

as they themselves call it a false accusation:

Just the ok sign for them. Yet everyone knows why he chose that sign and why he got the pat on the back from the nazi. It couldn't be clearer why cops believe they can just lynch people of color in public. They are racists and they got away with it forever. Whether in uniform or after they put on their robes, they are the same pos.
