Sports may penetrate the trumpers ‘ cone of silence. There’s no college football, no MLB, maybe no NFL, no ? ... Other countries aren’t doomed to watching replays of sports classics. Although you might be able to get some idiot trumper bet against Ali, that’s a hollow victory.

Trump broke society. Then Coronavirus comes along and breaks it even further. And then the riots and looting came along and broke that even further. It's going to take a near herculean effort to get us back to "functioning".

in broad daylight with cameras on him and a smirk on his face underlined just how broken things are.

How would this be on a T Shirt:

George Floyd died for your sins.

to remember McCarthy. For me things turned to shit with Nixon. I remember graduating from high school in '71 thinking I would be killed in Viet Nam before I turned 21. Not a great atmosphere to begin one's adult life in.

Since Trump had been boasting of his stock market and economy and jobs and all that turned out to be a hoax. The stock market was artificially inflated with stimulus long before COVID came along. Then they stimulated it with trillions more.

President Biden will have a herculean effort to rebuild the American economy and GOP will start complaining about the debt again.

If I'm not mistaken, he and his wife sponsored an LGBTQ night in Oakland when he played for the A's.

I love me some good football or basketball, but to bring players back just to appease an impatient, noncompliant populace is wrong.

Some players are starting to say no. As much as I'd love to watch some games, I hope they all refuse.

Fuck the owners. They can sell a mansion or two to get by.

Pitcher makes, 30 million, but the 3rd reserved outfielder makes $600k. And they rarely get 8-15 years of earning time.
They need to set themselves up for life after sports. They aren't going to make $600k after baseball.
The reason why players overwhelmingly agree to play, is because all those guys without $250 million contracts don't want to lose that year.
That's especially true in football.
And, absent fans, I do think there's a way to make it safe, except probably football.
That stuff at the line? Guys grunting loud with faces 6 inches apart?
Don't know about that!

NFL is talking face shields (which some players already use), but the union is pushing back because they're not safe.
They have members already using these "unsafe" additions, and it's apparently safer to just get exposed to other people's emanations!
Like I said; football, not so much.
