https://bluevirginia.us/2020/07/breaking-dominion-duke-announce-theyre-canceling-the-atlantic-coast-pipelineWhoa, amazingly good news for a change! Just wanted to break the news for now will provide further thoughts later, but this is superb news, as this pipeline was a massive boondoggle, a big-time polluter, and just stupid all around. Oh, and of course great work by all the attorneys, activists, etc. who fought the Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP) for the past few years!

(6,252 posts)Dominion (used to be VEPCO) bestrides the State like a behemoth and ALWAYS gets what they want. I can remember when I was growing up in the 70's, there were bumberstickers saying "Welcome to Virginia. Owned and operated by VEPCO"

(4,587 posts)When McAuliffe was governor, he announced his strong support for the pipeline the day Dominion announced it, before any state agencies had the opportunity to study its impact. It's Democrats like Terry McAuliffe who piss me off to no end. All about the money, baby. I know a lot of good people in Virginia who are celebrating tonight! For good reason --- this awful pipeline would have ruined many beautiful areas and endangered the waters in Western Virginia. People like this guy have been fighting this thing from the get-go.

(33,643 posts)Sorry if this is a dumb question but is this part of system that was going to cross the National Park-run trail (Appalachian), the case that was just won by the builders of the proposed pipeline?
My guess is that it's only cancelled because it doesn't make economic sense, at least not for now.

I am a little slow on the uptake.
