Fox & Friends Promotes Kanye West's Presidential Bid: 'The Unifying Force Weve All Been Waiting For'

The hosts of Fox & Friends argued on Sunday that Kanye West could unite the country by running for president in 2020.
During a segment on the Fox News morning show, host Jedidiah Bila noted that West had recently hinted on Twitter that he may be a candidate in 2020.
"Now, one person who has been talked about a lot about potentially being able to bring some unity is Kanye West," she continued. "That's right. Kanye West might be running for president."
"Could Kanye be the unifying force that we have all be waiting for?" Bila wondered.
"That is the question that I woke up, of course, thinking this morning," co-host Todd Piro replied. "Who knows what this means for the upcoming election."

(21,549 posts)drumpf had Kanye put himself in the race because he's hoping it will erode enough minority votes from Biden for drumpf to win. so they want to push Kanye but doing it on Fox news where only drumpf voters are watching is only going to make drumpf voters leave lol

Black people wont vote for him. They dont vote by skin color. Only stupid white people think they do.

(16,616 posts)the team. He's one of the few politicians I can think of that might siphon votes away from Trump.
Or, hell, David Duke! Richard Spencer. Trump isn't racist enough for the ultra-racists. Maybe they should run a pure, unadulterated racist.

(6,390 posts)...on NOT voting for Trump. Even when he was running for governor, he refused donations from Trump. Think that pretty much says it all.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if he comes out later for Biden, he actually thought very highly or Warren. He's what the radical right calls, a RINO.

(1,206 posts)Kanye could very well do some damage - especially with those who are still wanting to tear down the system, and as we saw in 2016 it doesn't take much to tip a state to 'R' - especially when we consider that we'll be voting against the backdrop of a pandemic and immense efforts of voter suppression.

(1,602 posts)Kanye has a really weird Venn Diagram of potential supporters - conservative intersects black intersects young intersects anarchist. They are out there - all twelve or so of them - and they probably are already committed to Trump. They're the very occasional token black you see at Trump rallies. As far as I can tell, it's a group that wouldn't vote Democrat or Biden if you paid them to. This means that if it's going to siphon off anyone's votes, it'd be Trump's. Frankly, it's about the stupidest thing that Trump could do.
What's more, per Biden himself, his VP will be a black woman. Biden is not young, and while I do not think he is likely to die any time soon, the possibility that he will retire after one term is fairly high, meaning that he (and likely Obama) will be mentoring the first black female president by 2024 at the latest. Young black men don't vote in significant numbers. Young black women do.

(1,206 posts)I'm not.
You have zero idea with regard to who might or might not support Kanye - and neither do I.
We based our assumptions on what appeared obvious in 2016 and look where we are now.

(1,602 posts)I'm not denying that there are people who want to see the whole system burn to the ground. What I'm arguing is that this demographic was likely already supporting Trump in the first place, because he's the one with the torches. These aren't independent voters (and they're certainly not Democrats), but they also in general DON'T VOTE, because voting means that they're giving credence to the system.
Yes, I'm a fifty-something white man with a heart condition, so I can't necessarily relate, but I'm also a journalist who follows data trends very closely, especially in the political space. I've written for Forbes and CNET. What I'm seeing is that most younger people, people in their teens through their thirties, have absorbed the lessons of BLM at a very profound level, and they are if anything angered by the destructive impulses around them, and they see Trump as being the nexus of this.

(1,206 posts)The only thing I will say with regard to who might vote for Kanye is that his appeal goes far beyond just who we might think it does - I know a ton of idiots who are into Kanye and believe it or not, might just vote for him because they don't fully understand the true danger this country is in.
And as far as people who want to burn the system to the ground, they aren't just Trump supporters, there are a lot of them on the far left - take a listen to Chapo Trap House or District Sentinel Radio or the Trillbillies - they (perhaps rightly) feel like the system as a whole is a complete and utter failure and does nothing to address their needs and the needs of millions of Americans and would like nothing more than to see it all come crashing down.
I'm troubled because of the unknowns and because it takes so little to lose the EC.

The White people gaming this out for Trump and West think black people are as stupid as Trump supporters are. We're not.

(22,022 posts)The deadline to get on the ballots in many states have already passed and a bunch more are coming up this month.
It's too late for West to plot a third-party run. This lack of knowledge of the system illustrates two things: first, West is pulling a stunt, (are you surprised?); second, the Fox hosts don't know how elections work, either.
This is just a bunch of idiots making noise on a holiday weekend. Ignore them.

My guess is Mr West is a guy who by virtue of his own fame, doesn't like being dramatically less popular than his spouse.

(6,390 posts)things. Even if he remotely gets anything, all the DNC has to do is run ads with his praises of Trump, photo ops with Trump, etc.
Reality....this is just to get attention for his new album, nothing more. At this point in the game, he needs a huge team just to get on ballots....and many are already too late. And a simple announcement isn't the way to go, he should have been campaigning well before that.
In short, its a lot of bullshit. And the media is grabbing on to it because, they are all tired of reporting what crazy shit Trump said today.
