Florida's coronavirus cases top 200,000, officials announce

Florida health officials on Sunday announced more than 200,000 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus since the pandemic began.

The latest state statistics showed an additional 10,000 confirmed cases. The highest number of confirmed cases in a single day came Saturday when more than 11,400 cases were reported.

As of Sunday, some 731 people have died. Of all cases, around 43 percent were in just three counties: Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach.

During a Sunday appearance on ABC News' "This Week," Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, who said he had the virus back in March, called the high numbers "extremely worrisome."

Says we are not moving backward. At first it was the fault of the old people and then he tried to blame it on the migrants, but that didn't work because Nikki freed pointed out to him that they had already moved on. Then he blamed the younger generation because they hung out in bars and now he is after the 0 to 19 year olds. Dang 2 year olds just won't learn how to socially distance.

The truth be told, the numbers are more than likely much worse. The news is full of people just begging for tests. The Waiting lines are extremely long and they are often out of tests within a couple of hours. Sad situation!

We’re 9th in deaths. Not good either. Hopefully now that the 4th is over everyone will wear masks. Ive noticed improvements in mask wearing at the stores I go to.
