Tesla is, by far, the best American car company. The Model 3 is, by far, the best value in it's class. SpaceX has revolutionized the space industry. Musk joined Trump's business council to advocate for climate change policies and left because the U.S. withdrew from the Paris agreement. Is he strange? Yes. Is he as you describe him? No.

I don't know who he loves. I'm not convinced he thinks covid is a hoax, but he might want you and me to think it's a hoax. He no doubt takes advantage of corporate welfare wherever he can. They all do. He sells amazing things that I think are overpriced. Fascist? I'm not sure aspiring oligarchs are fascists by definition. But if he joined the club, he's definitely a member, even if he had his fingers crossed.

You and I can agree on one thing at least: He is definitely a Grade-A Piece Of Shit.

But my opinion of him is plummeting continuously... I think he's losing it, quite frankly. He suffers from the billionaires' delusion that they know better than everyone else, about just about everything, simply because they're rich (Bill Gates & Jeff Bezos are other examples), with this tempered by his having some actual rigorous training in a field related to some of his endeavors (he has a degree in physics).

His weird outbursts, forcing employees to work through COVID-19, the bizarre name he gave his kid, support for Kanye... I guess I've walked almost all the way over to the anti-Musk camp.

1. Years ago I read a very long article about him. Basically he got a great education and benefited from a lot of programs financially before he was successful. Then, after he became rich he said that these programs were no good (basically pulling up the ladder after he used it).

2. He was a bastard about his factory and the CA restrictions for Covid.

He also continues to be an even worse bastard about his factory:

(via NBC, July 2nd) Employees also say that Tesla CEO Elon Musk covered up an outbreak at the plant. They want the facility shut down for a deep cleaning, and, among other demands, they are asking the Alameda County Health Department to do contact tracing instead of Tesla performing this function, as they allege is the case now.

On Wednesday, three former employees said they were fired after accepting Tesla’s offer to stay at home over fears of being exposed to the virus.

When Musk defied a health order and reopened his factory in May, he sent a letter to his employees, telling them that if they felt uncomfortable returning to work they were not obligated to do so.

The Washington Post reported that by the end of June, Tesla told the workers they had abandoned their jobs and fired them. One of the workers has a 1-year-old son with respiratory problems, another is caring for an aging family member and the third worker’s fiancée had recent heart surgery and suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
