Trump wants the virus to go away, as he makes sure it does not?

Usually when Trump does something twisted he has a reason. He sees a benefit to himself somehow.

He is still down playing the virus, still putting people at risk, still not doing everything he could be doing to stop the spread. I have been trying to understand what benefit he sees in this. Stopping the spread of the virus would be a great benefit to himself.

The only explanation I can come up with is this, From the very beginning Trumps main concern about the virus was the economy. He did not want the country to shut down, he did not care about testing, he wanted everyone to continue to work. I believe Trump from the very beginning thought if he could keep the economy going, a treatment, a vaccine, a miracle would come and save him.

I think he still believes this and we all know when Trump thinks he is right about something it is dam near impossible to get him to change.

Many more Americans are going to be killed by Trump as he awaits for his miracle cure.

The goal is reelection. The strong economy is the theme. The virus threatens the economy. What does a logical person do? Find out how to limit the virus from experts, heed their advice and use the full force of federal executive branch power to implement the advice.

That takes work and courage. You have to expose the fact that the medical advice did not come from you. You have to admit that the current situation is not good. The cowardly and lazy path chosen was to simply understate the threat. Instead of real leadership that would manifest itself in better results, he pleasures himself with the applause and shouts of supporters who are doing nothing to add to his total votes, another self-inflicted wound in the quest for more votes.
