Especially in the crossover country/rock of the late 70's...that being said his politics and views were crap

was when he fronted for Willie Nelson back in the 70s. I met some of his drivers though, they started to recognize me even though I was in a different rig every time we found ourselves at the same place. They knew me as that renegade drivergirl with the legs... I wore shorts and skirts a lot in the summer and drove some fine machines back then. Those guys were funny, we had some good laughs in the few small encounters we had.

I only liked CD's one hit that was funny, he was s good player but I never cared for the guy.

One of the all time greats!
After all we have most of the musicians. I was disappointed in Charlie tho.

But not that dumb fiddle song. He wasn’t much of a fiddler, IMHO, more of a sawer. That said, I saw him once at a big outdoor concert that I had backstage passes for back in 1981. Good show. My lasting memory is of watching him walk back to his tour bus and tell all the groupies to “get the hell outta here! Go on, git!” 😂

he turned into a huge disappointment after he opened his mouth about his political beliefs.

So after that, I disliked his music and paid him no mind about anything he had to say.

RIP anyway, Charlie Daniels.

I got to do several shows with him when I was a roadie, now this was mid 70's so he did drift, but in an understandable way at least to me.

I certainly don't agree with the man's politics.

Here's my favorite Charlie Daniels' song: Uneasy Rider.

He put on a great show. We were teenagers and we loved some of his songs, like Long Haired Country Boy, Caballo Diablo, Trudy.

We had second row seats. I was sitting on an isle seat. A friend of mine passed me a joint and I looked up, A cop was standing right next to me, staring at me. I thought I was busted. He turned and walked away. They let us party which was cool. America was a lot cooler back in those days.
