Mon Jul 6, 2020, 06:09 PM
Jul 2020

they're in trouble anyway and with limbaugh dying, the guy they built their monopoly around, a lot of stations are going to to be looking for alternatives and none of them are going to be able to attract the ad rates limbaugh was.

and all it would take is one famous athlete to say they don't want their team to broadcast on KKK radio and a hell of a lot more will join in. any of the 87 universities or pro teams looking for apolitical alternatives will scare a lot of advertisers away lest the boycotts start

the ad industry only has to get a whiff of boycotts aimed at rw radio and they will have to act preemptively before they lose radio advertisers permanently to other media. the ad industry wants those ears and they're going to start trying to democratize talk radio.

forcing the ad industry to ask advertisers if they really want to support the racism and trump and covid and global warming denial and defunding public schools will send a large proportion to the exits

He still owns 31% of the company, which has instituted rules to prevent him from regaining a controlling interest. It's tough because there are no doubt a bunch of franchise owners who paid $25,000 to open their stores who are good people, as well as a bunch of young people, cooks and delivery drivers, who one would hate to hurt. My take? I won't buy their pizza and I'll hope that anyone hurt by this goes to work for a better company that is thriving because of this. I've heard that Pizza delivery sales are way up because of people staying safe at home. And I'll double my usually generous tip to the kid who is taking risks by delivering to my door.

If you have to use it, abuse it. However, I would suggest switching to another brand so as not to enrich the Kochs any further.

Personally, I use Scott 1000 Roll, which is made by Kimberly-Clark. They used to give most of their donations to republicans, but over the past few years they have given more money to Democrats. Also, it lasts a lot longer and I hate changing rolls so often.

Why can't other companies get on board with the 1000 sheets? I will buy generic 1000 sheets, I am not particularly loyal to Scott, but this 300-somthing sheet is completely annoying.

On the list I am guilty of Home Depot and AT&T. I'd prefer Lowes but there is only one nearby location and 20 minutes further away than Home Depot.

AT&T sucks. I know they got the huge tax bail out from Trump and totally lied about what they would do with the savings. I stick with them only because the streaming services are an overrated option, guaranteed to jack up prices. Plus I can always talk my way into decent deals through the AT&T retention department.

First, I only frequent a couple of the places named.

1. I can boycott these companies that without a powerful, national force will have very little or no impact. The CEOs will still be eating caviar and drinking champagne.

2. I can continue to frequent these businesses, and enjoy the products while at the same time help regular people like you and me keep their jobs that support their families.

I think I'll go with the regular people and their families.

Ms. Toad

62. How about deleting the specific list -
Mon Jul 6, 2020, 05:27 PM
Jul 2020

or providing documentation.

This list perpetuates at least one allegation of supporting Trump that was disproven perhaps a month ago.

Taco Bell is owned by YUM. Earlier allegations that the YUM CEO supported Trump were proven false. The Trump supporter is the CEO of Muy! a company that owns several Wendys, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut franchises - not the parent companies. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/06/11/fact-check-franchise-owner-not-wendys-ceo-gave-400-k-trump-2020/5342047002/

So boycotting Taco Bell (or all the YUM companies) includes boycotting franchise owners who may well support Biden.

Since at least that one sloppiness (that was proven incorrect) is in your list, it would be best to either delete the list, or to find a source that has fully vetted each, so innocent (or even supportive) parties do not get caught up in overzealous boycotts based on inaccurate information.

Clinique products & Clinique moisturizer is the only moisturizer I can use b/c of my horrible allergies. I've been using that great stuff for almost 50yrs! Wish there were a substitute but I don't know of one.

A list like that should be checked before posting for accuracy.
A founder of Home Depot did donate big bucks to Trump, but he hasn't worked at Home Depot for over twenty years.
New Balance is opposed to Trump.

Those are just the three I bothered to check. Surprisingly, groups and people associated with Chick-Fil-A donated more to Bernie Sanders than to Trump. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/06/16/fact-check-restaurant-chains-dont-directly-donate-trump-campaign/3126204001/

Donates about equally to Dems and Repubs while many of their owned companies donate exclusively to Dems. Learn something new every day.

The guy is a big Trump supporter. Too bad. I actually considered buying some new floor mats for my car from him.

Most corporate boards of directors are loaded with right-wingers that promote dog-eat-dog laissez-faire capitalism's methods in their day-to-day operations where it really counts.

That means anti-regulation, anti-worker's rights and pro-profits at any cost and that's what it takes to keep Wall Street and investors happy. Some may even intentionally contribute equally to both parties to maintain the appearance of neutrality.

One would need to look at a company's overall long-term behavior to evaluate their humanistic value and I suspect we would be extremely disappointed in perhaps 90% of them all.

It's great to avoid those who are overtly right-wing or pushing religious freedom in the workplace but I fear most are covertly right-wing at their core.

Although Linda Bean had donated 55K to tRump supporting PAC previously.

Other companies are as follows. There is more at the link, but I found this link to be little squirrelly.

Marvel Entertainment:
Isaac Perlmutter, chairman and former CEO of Marvel Entertainment, donated a maximum contribution of $360,000 to Trump Victory in 2019. It's worth noting that Marvel Entertainment handles the comic book and TV side of the Marvel brand, and is separate from the popular film productions of Marvel Studios.

CVS Pharmacy:
According to a February 2018 report in the Wall Street Journal, the national pharmacy chain donated to $35,000 to the Trump Victory PAC and is one of the Trump reelection campaign's biggest corporate donors.
