I can read one of his tweets and still think "holy moly, the prez of the USA wrote that".
some behavior shocks me over and over again, "Pocohantas" for one.
Can you still be shocked by something Trump does or says?

(24,280 posts)nothing he says or does really shocks me. Hasn't for a long time. What shocks me is that 40% of the population cheers for it.
What shocks me even more is that at some point in his life, someone hasn't beaten the living shit out of him.

(12,377 posts)because it just gets on your nerves. I dont even care to hear him when the talking heads play something he said so they can make fun of it. I am just so over him. I think a lot of people are just plain over him. If hes such a great entertainment person then no one has ever told him what over exposure does to a celebrity. People just dont want to see or hear them anymore.

(153,147 posts)he displays daily what utter fucking scum he is
what does shock me is:
the unwillingness of the GOP to do anything about him
AND
the continued support he receives from some very sick fans

(29,322 posts)I sometimes feel like I have to pinch myself when I see his name in a Presidency context. My first memory of him is a late night host making fun of his hair. I never watched his Apprentice show but even from ancient threads he caused racial controversy. One DUer from late 2000s claimed to write a book about Trump -- this was way before he was President. I wonder where that DUer is. I'll see if I can dig up that ancient thread.

Donnie's too predictable to be shocking, and easily understood given his obvious psychological maladies.
It's the people who aren't really mentally ill themselves, yet insist on behaving as if he weren't, that continues to shock.

(5,640 posts)It was simply the most divisive speech ever given by a sitting pResident.
I was stunned. Just when I thought I was immune to his rhetoric, he basically laid out his path to civil war.

(14,530 posts)that trump would kill and eat a baby on 5th Ave for money, he won't shock you anymore.
He absolutely gets off on the death caused by Covid 19. It is his death porn. He gets off on barbarism. He loves it when people die, even more so if he knows he caused it through his actions.

I always believed that, with any President, there were adults in the room, ready to take
over the wheel if said President ran off the road. Apparently, there aren't.
Edited for grammar.

(1,789 posts)In one sense, I am not shocked to find us further down a road I thought we were on. The consumers of right wing radio were exploited and conditioned to reject objective proof from scientists and journalists. The gop establishment seemed to be in control. They wrote the scripts for the radio shows, but held and wielded the real power. I always guessed there would be a reckoning, but how that would play out turned out to be what was shocking.
The gop created a Frankenstein monster that turned on them. When John McCain told the woman at a town hall that Obama was a good man, it was not a turning point, just a milestone showing the direction to our present. They would not settle for "he's a good man, we just disagree."
They wanted a monster, someone who would insult the Democrats like they heard on the radio, not just bicker over the top marginal tax rate. It called for a cartoon character, but nobody could be that shallow, divisive and egotistical. The true shock is that a person exists that fits the bill.
