I encountered a 'Karen' from Oklahoma early this morning.

I am in Pagosa Springs, CO dealing with some issues with a family cabin that had been broken into. I've been here for a few days.

This morning I woke up at 4:30 - wide awake, no hope of settling back into the arms of Morpheous - I tried for an hour or so.

The dogs were up with me and quite energetic. I decided to throw on my shoes and take them to Echo Lake - only 7 mins away. There was only a hint of dawn when we arrived.

I let them loose upon arrival. This is a lake whose East end is 1+ miles from a road. It's where I have been going for 25 + years. The only leashed dogs I have seen were tiny. I know there will be a 'dogs must be leashed' reaction from some, but this is a rural area, and big dogs gotta run.

There is no one when I arrive (5:30 or so). Large parking area. I settle in playing online Scrabble (no wifi). About 30 minutes into the dogs outing a very large truck comes into the parking space. It goes back and forth multiple times over the course of 5 mins or so - it was hard to miss cuz it was BIG and loud. After 4-5 mins going back and forth and back and forth it finally settles.

The giant truck parks right next to me, so close that if there was a passenger they would have a hard time getting out. But her door was past my little Prius. This parking area is 8-10 cars wide and 2-3 deep.

She got out with fishing equipment and (I assumed) went down to the lake. I never looked at her - just playing Scrabble....

About 3 minutes later,The lake is a 2 min walk, but I wasn't watching She walks up to my passenger window with a Medusian demeanor. I was kinda shocked cuz I was working with a 'K' that had multiple uses. She asks if those are my dogs. I immediately say yes. She tells me that one of them broke her pole.....at that moment - almost perfectly the dogs came up from behind the dam - Far, Far from the fishing area she was in.

It was obvious that she was lying - and she knew it. She started semi-screaming about dogs and that I should pay her for a broken pole. It was 31 flavors of F'ed up. I would have liked to have more sleep under my belt, but I was able to say 'you just got here, and my dogs are WAY over there'. She started to get nutsy to the point that I swear her eyes had sparks in them.

I opened my door and called the dogs. She saw them running towards us and backed off. She got back into her truck. The dogs jumped into the car and I closed the door. I started the car and backed out - saw the OK plate.

WHY would this be a 'Karen' moment? I was driving my Prius with a "Any Functioning Adult 2020" faded bumper sticker. She drove past me 2-3 times trying to 'find a parking spot' in a HUGE lot. Oh, and she obviously lied about my dogs damaging a fishing pole when they were all the way down the SW dam.

I wish I had been awake enough to really see what was happening. I am a white woman in her age bracket, but I want no association with ppl like her.

Still trying to figure out how a dog breaks a fishing pole? Did she let him take a few casts?

You would have to see her eyes to understand - pure and disturbing NUTZ.

My dogs were just an excuse - and a lame-brained lousy one.

She is a grifter, like our President.

The driving about in the parking lot? Making sure you had dogs off leash, were at the car, and were alone.

Parking next to you? Intimidation.
