When Trump spews his idiotic, racist, divisive bullshit at one of his Nazi rallies, you are not helping things by rebroadcasting parts of it over and over again hundreds of times on every show on your schedule until he does it again.
Please knock it off. We've seen it and heard it. Okay?

I'm a news junkie. MSNBC keeps me fairly functional.

I think the last 4 plus years of thump has been enough. If you can't find other things to report I will continue to turn your channel off.

Weekdays are better, by far.

(1,062 posts)Maybe they should try to figure out "what and who they are" because their non-news programming says,
"Hi, I'm a white upper-middle class self-serving arse who enjoys watching Murder, more murder crimes, criminal behind bars (oh, did I mention all the non-white criminals they have on since apparently white folks don't do no time?), or our brave brave police officers rousting yet another person of color.
All that colorful commentary: 1) lots of things said without there being a goddamn point, purpose, useful information, or even a nice Aesop's learning module; 2) bad camera work; 3) disjointed and lacking in point.
Too bad they don't actually have anyone working for them who can give it some sense of form, mission, goal set, or rationale.

I like Joy Reid a lot and think she deserves a better showcase.
I'd get rid of Andrea Mitchell and Chuck Todd. Maybe give Joy Reid Andrea's slot. Katy Tur would get Todd's weekday "Meet the Press" show.
And I'd get rid of all those cheap-ass weekend prison/crime shows, and hire John Fugelsang to put together a few two-hour blocks of commentary, comedy, satire, and music for Saturday and Sunday evenings.

(851 posts)The constant repetition of some of these video clips - at times from both sides - is nauseating and usually results in me changing the channel. And I'm not someone continually watching, but seeing the same krap constantly played over and over again during their late afternoon - nightly shows just serves to drive me away. In one sense, I understand what they may be attempting to do, but constantly interjecting some gawd-awful vid and disrupting what might be an interesting, ongoing discussion just seems very counterproductive. I'm sure this kind of krap is being pushed by some producer or other behind the scenes twit, but the result just serves to disrupt the continuity of any given interesting discussion. The "brain trust" behind the cameras just need to let things flow without inserting themselves all the damned time.

(6,798 posts)gladly pick up the mantle and continue the struggle. There's no one bullet fix. These creatures are feeding from the seed stock.
Hell, half of MSNBC air time is filled by gossip and bluster disguised in infotainment. And still most people think they're the "left's" answer to Fox. The only networks that approach the facts in an attempt for honesty are NPR and PBS.
Yet even they give equal time to the right lest they be declared pariah and get disappeared. For example, does it makes sense to get the report of a tea party hack when talking about BLM? OBVIOUSLY NOT! But the public broadcasting system rests 'neath the sword of Damacles since Ken Tomlinson's tenure as chairman of the CPB. "Nice network ya got here, be ashamed if something were to happen to it. So, get Moyers out and maybe we can go easy on ya."

(1,402 posts)I agree completely.......I watch MSN BC at night because if I really want to get the lowdown on what is happening in the world and what has happened during that particular day, Rachel and Lawrence are the only ones that do the research and tell it like it really is. They do not sugar-coat anything, just the facts, just the facts and I really appreciate that. I watched Fox news a long time ago and immediately knew they all were right-wingers and would distort the news and facts to benefit the reps and I've never watched them again.

(788 posts)When one of the ka-zillion clips comes up of Trump, I routinely mute the sound. The news media is largely responsible for Trump's election with the round-the-clock Trump-o-Rama sound bites. Trump was legitimized by the obsessive focus. I get it that the Trump Show bumped up their ratings. Since his election I have, from time to time, placed myself on news quarantine against the news media orgasmic obsession with the worst president in American history.

(24,236 posts)I've always read the newspapers. Still do. It's not about keeping me informed, all of us here are far more informed than most people. It's about giving some Democratic elected officials more air time and less for Trump. They deserve the same platform that he does, otherwise the reporting is lacking.
When I can hear Trump spew the same racist shit 50 times in one day without the person third in line to the presidency even being mentioned on that channel, something is wrong.

(38,302 posts)I told them as much. They'd disconnected us because I hadn't paid the bill, but they kept calling. I told them just as soon as the sent me that special deal $49 a month check I'd allow them to reconnect. They never did.
Mind you at the time my wife was in the hospital and we had huge medical bills we couldn't pay. But neither one of us had ever watched much television anyways.
My wife beat the odds but we never did go back to cable television.
Our television plays DVDs and Netflix. That's pretty much all it does. One of our kids set us up Netflix. We pay $8.99 a month for that and we haven't yet run out of stuff to watch.

She seemed more spontaneous before they gave her tweety's old spot.
I still like her a lot, but she's got to get her tv game on.
