Brock Pierce, Former Child Actor and Cryptocurrency Entrepreneur, Announces 2020 Presidential Run

"I've spent my life creating great things from nothing and I can help others do the same," he said in a statement. "Entrepreneurs are essential to the rebuilding of this nation that we love, and I'm running in this race because I know that together we can help build a pathway towards the rebirth of the America we love so much."

Unlike Democratic and Republican candidates, in order to get on the ballot, independent candidates face different requirements in all 50 states, including filing deadlines and signature requirements.
Some states may also allow candidates to pay a filing fee in order to get on the ballot.

It is not yet clear how Pierce’s candidacy could affect voters (and recent polling shows there is a smaller share of voters inclined to outside candidates in 2020 compared with the last presidential election).

SNIP
He was an early investor in the digital currency Bitcoin and is the Chairman of the Bitcoin foundation, according to his Linkedin page.
He is also the co-founder of a number of companies, including EOS Alliance, Block.one, Blockchain Capital, Tether, and Mastercoin, as well as the founder of Integro Foundation, a Puerto Rico-based non-profit.

In 2018, he landed a spot on Forbes’ first-ever list of the wealthiest people in cryptocurrency, coming in at No. 9.

My guess, he's been solicited by others of his ilk.

This late in the game? How much time to do they have to even qualify to get on the ballot?

Wouldn't anybody who was seriously considering running, even as an outsider, have done this last year at the latest? It does not make any sense to invest time in and money into this at all so late.

That is, unless there is some strategy for several outsiders to throw their hat into the ring to siphon off votes, but to which major candidates advantage?

Weird stuff.

It was the experience of selling World of Warcraft gold with Pierce that awakened Bannon to the potential to mobilize toxic reactionary gamers to achieve his political goals. This lead to weaponizing gamer gate, internet counterculture, and so on to help elect donald trump.

So, you see, Brock Pierce isn't just some random cryptocurrency scammer.

with those leanings? He might pull votes from trump if he can get on some ballots. It's already too late for some states.

I'm pretty dialed into pop culture and I have NO IDEA who this guy is.

Apparently he was in Mighty Ducks, but the role was just as the coach when he was a kid. I think he had about 5 minutes of screen time between all of those films.

"Star" is a term we use way too loose.
