He just chose to misuse that talent - which makes him nothing more than a con-man.

But it didn't have to be that way.

...if he'd been a completely different person in every respect except his "way with crowds." But, then again, it's hard to imagine him having the same way with crowds (who are there because he gives them permission to hate and makes them feel superior to others who aren't as white as themselves) if he wasn't who he is. It's a little like imagining a Hitler who remained an artist, had no interest in politics, but who could inspire crowds of millions into rabid appreciation of fine painting. It just doesn't compute

In that Hiterlesque/Elmer Gantry way.

It's regrettable and ridiculous - but thinking people had better not ignore it when they see it.

That was the mistake most people made in 2015.

Trump has the ability to tap into the grievances of White Supremacists, rich and poor. He connects with people who think that there should be a hierarchy with White people at the top and POC serving them.

He really has not expanded his audience past that, and has even lost people who were upset at the "status quo" who thought he might be different. He is different from the "establishment" in that he does not even pretend to care a little bit about the average person.

There was no way Trump would ever be great at anything. Everything that he was supposedly good at (business, media, etc..) was orchestrated. and managed by others around him.

What he has talent for is self preservation, but any two bit con-artist has that talent. What the two bit con lacks is the family money that Trump inherited.

It was ALWAYS going to be that way with Trump, unless he had a completely different upbringing and make up. Trump was a walking disaster BEFORE he was put into the White House. He just didn't have the scrutiny that comes along with having the most powerful public service job in the world.

Sugar daddies of one kind or another keep having to bail his ass out (Roy Cohn, the mafia, his own daddy, money launderers like Icahn, Jabba-the-Barr, and of course Putin).

Of course though, the root of the Trump problem is Big Business control over our politics - as was the case with Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Pinochet, and any number of other past fascists.

Some of them connected with bigoted crowds too - but without big money backing, they would've gone nowhere.

He was handed such an opportunity and just squanders it over and over and over.

Even when faced with the crisis that we're in the middle of where he could have just cut the shit and grown the fuck up and helped people, he didn't.

Hell, even Putin could completely alter the course of Russia and make it a respected member on the world stage if he had the smallest inclination to do so and, nothing. Russia could be a powerhouse and yet they settle for being a marginalized, shadowy cypher nipping at the heels of power.

Trump is broken. He has things missing from his psyche that do not allow him to act like a typical human being. Just look at his behaviors. He rarely smiles. I have never seen him have a belly laugh. If he cries, he never shows it. The only emotion he appears capable of is anger, and even the full extent of his anger is often hidden.

Trump, in my opinion, never wanted to make a difference. He wanted to be adored. Some historians say that every person who goes into politics at the national level, has a bit of narcissism to them. You certainly have to think highly of yourself to think you are worthy to be elected to the highest office in the country. Trump certainly has the arrogance, but not really the confidence and competence. He fell into the presidency. His self aggrandizement is not born of any genuine confidence but of a need to appear strong, to hide his weaknesses.

He does not have the ability to relate to people on a basic human level. When that man fell at Trump's property and broke open his head, the first reaction of any person with normal human emotions is a mix of concern for the man's well being, and likely shock at the blood, possibly nervousness, but underlying everything was feeling bad for the poor guy who fell. Not Trump. He felt disgust and wanted to remove the man from the situation and clean up the blood because it was gross. That sums up how he relates to everyone. If you are useful to him, he will be okay toward you. If you aren't he could not care less. Being President means taking the fears, the hopes, and the dreams of every American, and doing your best to try to help them. Trump does not have that motivation. For Trump, his own desires are what guide him nothing else.

the incompetent presidential is We knew that from the start from the way he ran his businesses, his finances and his personal life.

What we saw from the beginning was just a taste of what Trump was, that he was going to screw up his office in the same way that he messed up everything else he touched.

All he cares about is his image. Nothing else. He looks at every crisis as a hit on his popularity...and tries to do everything in his power to dismiss it. When, all he had to do was, embrace it and say we are going into a bad rough patch and people should take the advice seriously. Boom, done deal.

And on the bills, he could have revised the ACA to include a public option...and called it something else, like, the affordable care option. Everyone would have ate it up. Nope. repeal the ACA without a replacement.

He could have easily got out of his "build the wall" promise by creating a virtual wall with sensors, cameras, etc. as its more reliant, manageable, effective and cheaper . Then tax remittances to Mexico to pay for it. Nope, build a fucking physical wall that has been proven over and over to not stop illegal immigration.

This schmuck is incapable of long term and strategic thinking.

trump was always an asshole and will continue to be one. Fucker got his jollies off by firing people on his reality show. Fucker did the same thing when he was selected as President. Fired everyone of importance and replaced them with his swamp rats. Trump is evil to the core. He inherited a vibrant economy from the Obama Presidency and he rode that horse until corona happen. Fucker did not give a shit how many Americans died, all he cared about is the economy. I just hope his ass and his little call girl get kicked out of the White House. VP Biden has a lot of work to do to restore America that President Obama left. After four years of mismanagement, it takes more than 4 years to correct the chaos that trump created.

won the House and we'd be screwed this year.
They could have gotten their tax cuts and looked good in the process.
But they didn't. they surrendered their moral authority and lost the middle of the country and we won the House.
They had their chance again with the impeachment but stuck their heads in the sand.
Now we are going to GOTV with a motivated electorate because the GOP are moral cowards.
Let's roll.

The man has no moral compass, no intelligence, not a shred of empathy for others. Just look at the pictures of him giggling with Epstein, snickering about grabbing women, making fun of people with disabilities, and on and on.

This man has not a scintilla of what could make someone “great.”
