But, he's gone.

Worrying about whether he leaves is a waste of time at this point, and won't help us win in November.

he will be escorted out of the white house by the secret service. Just as they would escort anyone else out who was not legaly allowed to be there. Period.

Focus on the real issue: There are enough idiots out there that he may actually win. Your focus shold be on that, not conspiracy fantasies.

It is what does he and his minions, Barr et al, do to challenge the loss in the media and more importantly in SCOTUS.

Of course he will do exactly that. He never stopped claiming he won the popular vote in 2016. Nobody gives a shit. If he won't leave the White House, we'll lay seige to it by cutting off the KFC and Berder King supplies. Drag him out in cuffs.

10. When Trump Loses the Election, He Will Need a Pardon
Tue Jul 7, 2020, 12:18 PM

so he doesn't get prosecuted in federal court. So, he will resign and have Pence pardon him and his family. He has between November and January to do that. Donald J. Trump thinks of Donald J. Trump first in everything, so that's what he'll do.

This discussion keeps coming up here. It is a foolish discussion. Trump will take the path that provides the most safety for himself, and his family as a second consideration.

While that pardon from Pence will not protect him against any possible state charges, it will protect him from his major risks of prosecution. As far as I know, no former President has ever been charged by a state for anything done while serving as President. I doubt Trump will be, either.

Trump loses and resigns with a full, blanket federal pardon for everything he may have done as President.

Maybe instead of hashing this nonsense out over and over again, we could focus on helping to make sure his loss is a huge one. That would be something useful we could do.

not sure which one though.

And I guess I'm still not sure about the the reality of this,

My main question is based off the individual states Constitutional requirements about when an automatic recount is kicked in. In PA, I believe it's .05% (but don't quote me on that). If it's above that, then it's up to the campaign to challenge the vote and ask for a recount. Now, they can call for a state wide or a targeted recount. The campaign calling for the recount is financially responsible for the costs born out of that. So, if the Trump campaign needs for example 70k votes in order to overtake Sen. Biden. Does he call for a recount in Phillly and Pittsburgh? Those are not only the 2 most populous areas, but are also the heaviest concentration of Dem voters so it'll be at his own peril to do that.

This will have to be done in all 3 states that the authors identified as the targets.

AFAIK, Governors do not certify election results, Secretaries of State do.

In Michigan, electors are appointed by the winner of the certified popular vote, certified by the SOS. The legislature has no role or authority in the process. The Trump campaign would have to seek a court injunction to stop/overturn the certification. The process varies from state to state.

Per the 12th amendment, the President is the candidate who wins a majority of appointed electors. Any state whose electors are blocked from being appointed thus reduces the total number of EV’s need to win below 270.

There will be no recount for SCOTUS to stopif the margin is wide enough to prevent it (varies from state to state, but typically 0.5% or less)

Certainly, Trump may try this strategy, but IMO, is unlikely to succeed.

The biggest risk is the Larger number of absentee/mail in ballots in swing states, delaying final results by a week or more, giving Trump time to declare victory and sow chaos.
