The stupid factor

We are in the fight of our lives right now. Not only physically from the pandemic (as if that wasn’t bad enough!) but for the economic impact that is coming and the very fragility that’s exists from those two issues.

Enter, the stupid factor. The people who won’t believe this is real, wont wear a mask, have an excuse for everything, think the conspiracy theories are real, etc.

Somewhere. Some how. We have got to get past the stupid factor. The idiots who can’t or won’t see reality and listen to logic, reason and science.

We no longer have the luxury of allowing the stupid factor to be an equal force, spout its lies, and demand to be heard. Because giving a voice to the stupid factor gives it credibility and it is growing in numbers because it is allowed to have a voice.

The stupid factor takes valuable time and energy from those who are trying to navigate through this crisis with logic, reason and science. For example, I live in San Antonio and the mayor has been great. But for every legitimate question he answers, he has to spend time and energy answering the stupid factor.

I’m serious here. Our lives depend on this.

The question is, however, how do we get rid of the stupid factor? How can we shut these people up so that they do not detract from the logic, science and reason that it is going to take to save us? We need to be focused on reality now more than ever. We don’t have resources to waste on a stupid factor segment of the population.

1. The problem isn't that they're stupid (although they are) the problem is they're terrorists.

And yes, this is what biological terrorists look like.

Stupid, selfish people going around, deliberately spreading germs or making people fear they're spreading germs, putting other lives at risk or making them fear for their lives, all because... reasons, of which they are absolutely convinced somehow justify killing or terrorizing other people.

where they can go and live in blissful stupidity (and self-made wretched poverty and ill health) without endangering us rational folks.

I mean, seriously. I know my post isn’t the most politically correct. But we have got to shut this stupidity down if we are going to solve this crisis.

With regards to the virus, penalties must be exacted on those who do not comply with safety. It is now sport for them to defy these measures and in some places they have the support of law enforcement. It is not just stupid at work here but the mechanics of following and being part of a team of hate. It makes them feel good.

Maybe events and karma will change people, but
it takes far more energy to ague with BS than to create it.

We just have to keep on keeping on.
Keep speaking the truth and strengthening the community at large.
Do good.

My greatest concern is that lots of stupid people have guns.

9. Another way is smack them in the face with reality, such as a dear leader of theirs unable to deal

... such as a dear leader of theirs being so stupid that he is unable to deal with some as basic as a respiratory disease pandemic.

The smack of reality might be a loved one or a boss dying of the disease and a friend having lifelong kidney dialysis due to organ damage.

Sometimes that is what it takes to wake people up. Many people of colour are "woke" because they have had to confront harsh realities on a daily basis. Sheltered stupid people who get by just sleep-walking through life, going through the motions without introspection or reflection sometimes need a wake-up call.

10. One would think so, right?

But I don’t know.

I just watched a family I’ve known since childhood bury the patriarch after he died from COVID-19. His daughter-in-law is a conspiracy theory junkie and is still posting on Facebook that the virus is a hoax, that the numbers are inflated, that it’s a coup to defeat Trump, etc.

So I’m really not sure these people even have a “woke” threshold any more.
