(15,325 posts)They've sheltered these kids for 6 months. Now that Gov Abbot has run this State into Covid hell, parents are supposed to act like this is nothing.?
IT DIDN'T JUST WASH THE FK AWAY.

(3,764 posts)In Texas school districts are independent. It's even in most of their names, for example Houston Independent School District, Spring Branch Independent School District, etc.

(10,053 posts)He has always done things his way and he has mad love for Miami. DeBlasio offered him a big job last year as the new chancellor of NYC school district and he was going to go, then changed his mind - said he couldn't leave the kids down here in his district.

(16,925 posts)but when we have our President ignore bounties on American soldiers and sending children and educators into a Corona-Spreader, I really don't know how else to react to such ignorance, arrogance, and stupidity.
I either laugh or go bonkers!

(42,302 posts)Our small school district has been doing quite the same. Now we're faced with the Ed Commissioner's mandate to open all in-school.
SO is a public school teacher. He's 63. The only reason he's continuing to work (besides the fact that he likes it) is that we need the health insurance.
Do we risk his, and my health, for this? These SOB's care nothing for anyone who is not a wealthy donor.

(23,091 posts)My area is run by the fascists who have only a minimal attachment to reality and who will do whatever drumpf and mini-me say. I am actually very surprised that Mayor Curry put in a mask requirement - but then I guess I'm not surprised at all that he included no penalties or enforcements measures.
I feel so damn bad for the working class and poor parents who have to work to survive and who have young school age children too young for home schooling. OK, they are in school, but what about when the school is closed, will there be commercial daycare and if so can't imagine how they'd keep that safe. What about buses, also dangerous. Our governor is just following his mentor, Traitor Tot, and will gladly kill us to get more money flowing in the economy to prop up the fascists aka RNC.

(7,430 posts)The pandemic isn't really bad. It's just an annoyance. We can resume the normal capitalistic system, people will die, but it's not a deal-breaker. Send your kids to a viral cesspool and have them come home to the family. It's okay. You might suffer and die, but that's okay, too. Just be a good Republican and take one for the Team.

(21,432 posts)that Trump does not have the authority to order the schools open. He is asking the state's schools to submit their plans for opening, whether online, in person, or a combination by August. Based on what they submit and what conditions are like at the time, he will make a decision then on what to do.
