Facebook: Nothing changes, everything stays the same...

Zuckerberg & Sandberg met with civil rights leaders.
• FB reverted to “spin.”
• “Same old talking points."
• “They showed up to the meeting expecting an A for attendance. Attending alone is not enough.”

Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s two top executives, met with civil rights groups on Tuesday in an attempt to mollify them over how the social network treats hate speech on its site. "The new Oversight Board, appointed in May, pledged to “focus on the most challenging content issues for Facebook, including in areas such as hate speech, harassment, and protecting people’s safety and privacy.” It would have the power to issue binding decisions that affect Facebook and Instagram."

"Since the announcement, critics of the company have been hopeful but skeptical that the Oversight Board—which is comprised of academics and politicians—will bring any sort of meaningful reform in the companies’ content moderation practices."
