That’s why it’s an easy one. Makes no difference in the long run but will tick off drumpf

I don’t think it is safe to assume anything based on these rulings - it’s safe to safe the court issued rulings on a case by case basis.

This court's majority is protective of religious "freedom" (that is, the right of religious people to impose their beliefs on others), but that doesn't translate at all to an interpretation of the law that protects Fat Nixon's tax returns. We have already seen that sometimes in other cases they reach the right result, though maybe for the wrong reasons.

And not the way I hope it splits. Based on impeachment of Trump, Roberts has made it abundantly clear he wants to stay clear of politically charged decisions. And even though this one shouldn’t be politically charged, it is and it’s during an election season... so I suspect that Roberts will rule against the subpoena in a way that is specific to this instance but leaves it open for future use (in particular against Democratic presidents)

of which this case has some very good examples.

I think it will be 5-4 that Trump's taxes can be made available to investigations and I think Roberts will write the decision. He hasn't written one yet for this opinion session.

illegally not releasing the returns. Every president has released taxes before. If there is an issue w/ the release of taxes, then something would have come up before, and it hasn't. rump is hiding something, plain and simple.

TITLE: Supreme Court grants NY prosecutors access to Trump's tax returns, rebuffs Congress

The Supreme Court in a split decision on Thursday granted New York state prosecutors access to President Trump
’s tax returns, even as it shielded a trove of his financial records from Congress. The justices upheld a Manhattan district attorney subpoena for eight years of Trump’s financial documents, including his personal and corporate tax returns. But they declined to grant Congress access to records subpoenaed by a trio of Democratic-led House committees. Both cases were decided by a 7-2 vote.

The ruling in the New York dispute makes it more likely that Trump's tax returns are eventually made public, though it’s unclear if they would be disclosed before the November general election. More fundamentally, the decision flatly rejects Trump’s argument that a sitting president enjoys absolute immunity from investigations.

ALSO: Someone needs to tell Barr too that the PINO does NOT have absolute immunity!!!
