Isn't it amazing how Tammy Duckworth, despite the loss of her legs in combat,

stands so much taller than the likes of her critics, Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump?

She calls bullshit by its name and I am proud and grateful that she is my senator.

Don't know about Carlson although I would assume he did not neither.

I find it rather upsetting that non-serving folks tend to criticize and even trash persons who have served, such service in order for us to live free.

Therefore, eff them and Senator Duckworth is tough, she can handle it while turning it around at them.

as long as it was clearly a mistake, and not done out of malice, which was obviously the case. Because unlike the orange menace she has a sense of humor.

I think she would make a great VP for Biden, except we need her in the Senate.

Or Iraq. Or any other war front where neither of them had the backbone to go and serve.

She stands tall as the Washington Monument. Those two useless blights-on-humanity will never dig themselves out of the sewer lines leading away from its underpinnings.

....feature story.

I have been a subscriber for years and have recommended the magazine to others. I have given away free subscriptions to young fly tyers. But recently they did a feature story about Tucker Carlson Fox News.

I felt they used poor judgment by not considering he works for a company the doesn't believe in the very things that fly fishermen and women need to protect the very resources that are important to our ability to enjoy our chosen outdoor sport.

Water quality, climate change, industrial pollution, farming run-off to adjoining trout water, protecting national parks from mining and drilling to mention a few of the issues they lobby against.

Now Tucker has repeatedly attacked Tammy Duckworth a disabled veteran who lost both legs while when her helicopter was hit by an enemy rocket.

Tucker Carlson never served in the military. And in fact, come from a rich family.

Please consider this when subscribing to your fly fishing journals. When my multi-year subscription runs out I will have to do some soul searching before resubscribing.

Here is the journal his story ran in. Seen on their Facebook page.

but it might be hard for another Democrat to win in her district. She is so well-liked that she wins her district by 20%. She could end up as speaker of the house.

Madigan would be a good choice. She would not displace a sitting and much-needed Congress person. And she did a great job as attorney general. Many people thought she would run for governor. Her family is powerful and talented as well. In Illinois, family connections count for something, on both sides of the aisle. Families seem to run things. This is not a bad thing, IMO. Family members grow up expecting to serve, and they are groomed for it.

This maneuver reeks of his methods ...

Remember what they did to Max Cleland ...

https://www.salon.com/2016/09/12/trump-iraq-and-max-cleland-the-rights-endless-hypocrisy-over-the-iraq-war/

Like many Democrats in 2002, Cleland opposed the Bush administration's plans for an invasion of Iraq in response to the 9/11 attacks a year earlier. For his opposition to President Bush's military whimsy, Cleland was targeted for ouster by Rove and the Chambliss campaign, and the strategy was breathtakingly horrendous. The centerpiece of the campaign was an infamous television ad in support of Chambliss, which inconceivably linked Cleland with Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden, the dual supervillains of that era, while also outrageously questioning whether Cleland had "the courage to lead."

Prior to the ad's dropping, Cleland was comfortably ahead of his challenger in the polls. In the days and weeks following the ad, Cleland dipped behind Chambliss and was ultimately defeated by a 6-point margin. He later told CBS News that the election had triggered his PTSD from the war. Chambliss went on to serve two full terms, retiring after the 2014 midterms.

Cleland, who left three limbs in Vietnam, was politically euthanized by the Republicans using a familiar early-2000s cudgel: Cleland was an unpatriotic terrorist sympathizer for his opposition to what became the Iraq War and therefore this decorated American soldier was unfit to serve in the Senate. He was publicly disgraced by the GOP establishment, as well as by an opponent, Chambliss, who received a deferment from the Vietnam draft due to an alleged "bum knee" from an old football injury. In other words, the draft dodger Republican was a true patriot for supporting the war, but a triple amputee and Vietnam War hero wasn't patriotic or courageous enough for re-election. Worse, Cleland was named as part of a rogues gallery that included America's most visible enemies at the time.
