In first case, Court rules in favor of tribal nations 5-4

The Court ruled that, for purposes of the Major Crimes Act, land reserved for the Creek Nation since the 19th century remains "Indian country."

Gorsuch wrote opinion, joined by Court's liberals.

Just making a little joke because it preceded the decisions coming out about Trump's financial documents, so it's kind of like an opening act at a concert.

Which reminds me of the time back in 2008 where my wife, who as a child of the 80s was a huge New Kids on the Block fan, went to a reunion concert for that group.

When she got back, she told me all about the New Kids, but only in passing did she mention the opening act, who she said was some weird, obscure singer with a babyish sounding name.

That weird obscure singer turned out to be....Lady Gaga. Right before she absolutely blew up.

So opening acts can be great, is what I'm say.

I expect Roberts to, but Gorsuch? This could be a really good sign that the latest RW a-holes are rational human beings, at least part of the time.

TEXT: #BREAKING: The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled Creek Lands in Oklahoma will remain tribal territory and not become subject to state jurisdiction. A huge win for Native Americans in the case of McGirt vs. Oklahoma.

I was not following this case but I can see at some of the great implications.
1. Natives on reservation are not subject to harassment from racist cops. I am referring to the awful things that spurred the Black Lives Matter movement.
2. Tribes can administer their own form of justice for the crime. This is important to maintain their own culture.
