More of a win for the president, it appears. The question presented, Roberts writes, is whether the subpoeans issued exceed the authority of the House under the Constitution.

Both cases get sent back to the lower courts and no one will see Trump's records before the election.

He succeeded in his effort to keep everything hidden. But he still got smacked down by the Supreme Court.

will ever see his taxes? So, they handed him a win dressed up to look like it wasn't?

An actually, SDNY will probably get them right away. They just won't be released to the public before the election.

It's a partial political win. But from a criminal justice standpoint, he's in serious jeopardy.

I bet some smart Congress critters could make use of this to keep the pressure on and make him keep playing whack-a-mole. They might even pop some info out before the election, not that it will matter much to the part of his base that will back him even if he literally turned into a poo-flinging monkey in the middle of a press conference.

Looks like Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh went against him .

Expect a Twitter Tantrum. Donald Trump cannot say NO to Congressional oversight. He is not immune to prosectuion. He IS NOT above the law.

Although, that's of less concern to me at this point since we now know that NOTHING that becomes public will change anyone's mind.

This won't mean much for the election, although some details might be leaked. And if Trump were to win in November, he'll just ignore the courts anyway. But it's a victory for the law and the people just the same. Presidents are not above the law.

And there will be more cases against Trump now too, might not be able to weasel out of all of them, and eventually one of his tax attorneys will get arrested for nhot handing them over.
