Before I give my reasonings.. I know many will be disappointed because he is not being frog marched out of the white house at this very moment... I get it.. I would have loved that also..but that was not going to happen..
What did happen is awesome.. getting 7-2 decisions in both cases on Donald Trump and his papers and taxes,,
I am really happy about the New York verdict.. If there was ever a place that could put Trump and family behind bars.. and or expose them for the criminals they are, it is New York... Barr must be beside himself. CY Vance will be out for blood.
Even the congressional hearing that sends it back to the lower courts.. is a win for us..because all nine justices said a president is not above the law, ..he may get to push it off before the election and tie it up in lower courts..but he is in for the full hit if he gets a second term..
Besides this gives VP Biden who has released at least 20 years of his taxes more bats to hit the Donald over the head with..
7-2.. both of Trumps picks gave him a kick in the shins..
Dang I am almost considering going out and buying a lottery ticket..

(2,965 posts)None. None at all. If Russian bounties won't sway some people, how would taxes?

(22,836 posts)We've already got him on the ropes in the election anyway. This is about the personal ramifications for Trump, which are now looking severe. He's one step closer to getting his just desserts, and the power of the presidency can't protect him from what's coming.

(629 posts)Can we have an investigation into that?! You know, like how the Rethugs did with Benghazi.

(295,904 posts)Biden committed to ensuring that any prosecutorial decisions would be dictated by the law, in contrast to what he called the "dereliction of duty by Trump and his attorney general, William Barr.

(244 posts)Trump won by losing. Hes successfully been able to keep his taxes secret through two election cycles.
I disagree that it wouldnt have an effect before the election. Unlike other revelations (i.e. bountygate), Trump isnt a billionaire which is counter to one of the main reasons his base supports him. Needless to say, the disclosure would have much more dirt that just his net worth.
Our only hope is that Cy Vance moves quickly (and SCOTUS cooperates) to get info out before the election. Will Cy Vance be willing to influence an election outcome? Who knows.
The whole situation stinks, an amazing level of corruption that I never thought I would see in my country.

(10,946 posts)better for us going into November. I prefer a Presidential candidates who are not under criminal investigation. I prefer Presidential candidates who arent total failures at everything they do.

(10,252 posts)It means that his taxes will probably get leaked. And if the NY grand jury returns an indictment, that Trump and family will eventually face prosecution, and Barr can't do a damn thing about it.
We have the possibility that one day Trump will get a 3 minute prison haircut with electric clippers. That's the picture, post haircut, that I yearn to see. Plus he'll sit in a very small gray cell 23 hrs a day feeling sorry for himself for years and years and years.

(68,348 posts)Republic. Barr and others tried to say the president was above the law. SCOTUS in a 9-0 opinion (that part was 9-0) said no the president enjoys only those rights that all Americans enjoy..not 'extra' rights. Thomas and Alito thought the president should enjoy some deference in these matters ...hence the 7-2 overall ruling. K&R Great OP.

(22,836 posts)not completely collapsing under the destructive Trumpians.. The current resident of the White House thinks he is a king.. he is just a peon like the rest of us when it comes to matters of the law.. I bet he was spitting teeth when that ruling came down.. what a dufus
