Will that set the table for a whole new game, especially if he chooses a black woman.

This is actually very liberating. It means Joe Biden can choose anyone he wants to, and it won't move the needle on Trumpsters if he chooses a woman of color.

(115,692 posts)six or so women, and they have all been analyzed ad nauseam. Chances are better than even that he selects a PoC, probably but not necessarily a Black woman (Tammy Duckworth is Asian), but in any event the probable candidates have already been identified and the final choice is not likely to be a huge surprise. Whoever it is will be a solid choice but not everybody will be perfectly satisfied. That's the way these things work.

As in the 'Democrat Party is trying to trick you into voting for 1 term Biden, and 2nd term: Black, Female, Muslim?, ______.

(85,996 posts)...that they're nervous about selecting a black woman because it will 'set the table for a whole new game?'
I hope this isn't their thinking. The idea is to expand our base of voters, and to do that, as Joe says, present voters with an 'transformational' choice in this election.

(5,111 posts)VP, as I said my concern is that when the reality of not just a potential female president but a black female president sets in, some independents and even Dems will balk. Look wat happened to Hillary. FWIW Ive posted numerous times that anything other than a black female would be viewed as a slap in the face by black voters who put Biden over the top. Not Im second guessing that assessment.

(53,778 posts)Are you saying now you don't think he should choose a black woman VP?
And btw, I'm a black male and I don't think there's any question he should pick a black woman, what with the majority of the top choices being black women, to overlook all of them would be a serious mistake and could costs Biden votes as we are the ones who delivered the nomination to him.
No time for second guessing. You get what you fight for.

(53,778 posts)aren't going to vote blue anyway. We got never-trumper repugs working for us on the Lincoln Project, the white suburban blue wave from 2018 wants trump gone too, and many right-leaning independents are sick of him too.
We'll be all right. Harris, Abrams, Rice or Demingsall of them can run roughshod over Pence in the VP debate.

(1,184 posts)It may energize some clearly anti-Democratic voters, but they weren't going to vote for Biden in the first place.
Admittedly, Biden has benefited from the fact that Trump's incompetence has been the only story in the news for months. He's been able to step back and let Trump shoot himself in the foot. Therefore, news of a VP selection will make scrutiny of the Biden ticket front and center, the inevitable narrowing of polls will happen, but it will be only temporary, and they'll make a home run decision anyway. One thing that made the Obama campaigns so successful is that they were focused less on winning any particular news cycle in favor of winning the overall narrative.

The proper response, "Is she better than Putin's bitch who turned over an American base, allowed bounties to be placed on American soldiers, allowed Russians to interfere in our elections, divides the entire Country daily while catering to his shrinking base, completely mishandled the COVID crises?????? If you don't think she is then you for sure are a fucking idiot and likely a fucking racist."
