(51,069 posts)Are new claims of privilege going to be made? Are documents ready to go? Things like that.
I'd call it a scheduling conference.

(130,862 posts)Cyrus Vances subpoena of his tax returns and other financial records after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the presidents claim of immunity in the matter.
The high court on Thursday said presidents do not have broad protections against state criminal investigations. The case was sent back to U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero in Manhattan, who set a July 16 hearing date.
Vance is seeking the records from Trumps accounting firm, Mazars LLP, as part of a grand jury investigation into hush-money payments made to adult-film star Stormy Daniels, who says she had a sexual relationship with Trump about a decade before he became president. Trump has denied the affair and called the probe politically-motivated harassment. . .
Trump could argue the district attorneys subpoena is too broad or too burdensome, but several legal experts said such arguments rarely succeed. The fight could keep New York prosecutors from getting the documents before the presidential election though. Even if they get them, the records would still be guarded by grand-jury secrecy laws.'

(10,053 posts)Rachel Maddow talked about this on her "Follow the money and do it fast" episode last night. She mentioned that under the normal case of events the NY prosecutors are supposed to wait about 25 days before they start moving, but they might try to go faster if they WANT to, for example they could file a motion to accelerate the entry of this Supreme Court opinion in to the docket to try to get that trip to the lower courts fast tracked, to start the fight over the subpoena (which shouldn't take forever to resolve) she said that will be the first thing to watch here to see if they do that.
Maybe just maybe we will see them before November after all, hmmmm......

(31,974 posts)Th SC sent the case back to the District court for further review based on their decision. The judge wants to know from both sides how they see that going. This is a high profile case so it is natural the judge wants to show he is on top of it.
