The dead bodies. They truly believe if they say everything is fine, try and hide the numbers, tell everyone it's OK to go back work, school. We will all believe it and do what they want.
Not only are they lunatics, they are also complete idiots.
Hurry November.

(31,109 posts)I am sorry that it bothers you, it bothers me TOO, big time.
If we dont talk like this and to everybody and everyday and encourage the patriots of our country to do so by tweeting and whatever, then your and my worst nightmare WILL come true.
There is no way around this, not this time.
People need to be aware of the GRAVE danger they are in and respond accordingly.
The virus is just beginning, and the damage it does to those who survive we are learning is devastating. Time to SCREAM at EVERYBODY...
But I am sincere when I say sorry, but I have to do this, because I KNOW what is happening and how bad it will get.

(53,410 posts)And it isnt a complaint. Everyone here is aware of exactly what youre saying. Unlike a hell of a lot of people, as we can see from the news, were exceptionally aware of whats going on.
There are people here who have already lost people to this virus. It is extremely painful to read about how many more might or will be lost. Everyone is aware of that. No one needs reminding. We also have quite a few DUers who are exposed to it because of their jobs. They dont really need to be reminded here. DU needs to be a sanctuary during times like this. It IS a sanctuary. We need to help each other now.
I truly dont mean to be critical at all. I hope we remain friends.

(4,131 posts)But there are many who wont be. The mishandling Id the pandemic appears to be getting worse. Theyve set a crash course for disaster by committing to opening up schools at the end of August. This is going to cause a spike in coronavirus cases in September and deaths in October - right before the election.
For the life of me I cannot imagine how the think this will play well. It is almost as if theyre counting on the disaster to give them something to cast blame upon for the inevitable electoral loss.

(20,246 posts)so to speak, with no leadership in it all, only a sense of horror.
It wasn't until the past week that I am realizing that it will be worse if the students and faculty are to return to classrooms. I have no words or expression left.

(14,047 posts)I had this argument today. Co-worker convinced that the numbers are hugely exaggerated, that almost all deaths are being misrecorded as COVID-19... The whole bubble. And this is in freaking Arizona where it is exploding and the hospitals are full.
No amount of statistical evidence can beat unverifiable anecdotal crap he's heard somewhere. The healthcare professionals, statisticians, epidemiologists are all lying to get money. Hopeless.
his is the GOP base, which we can only hope keeps shrinking until it is two angry old guys shrieking at each other about which one is more conservative. Then one shoots the other and we lock up the survivor.

(10,170 posts)primarily by the last ill-conceived and premature reopening order, with no reopening plan whatsoever, and no money to reopen safely - is total madness. This will make the caging of immigrant kids separated from their parents seem benign in comparison. Trump and his henchmen have finally reached rock bottom.

Schools? They'll be sparsely populated. No amount of personnel would be able or available to process delinquency. By the ides of October those in school will be 30% sick with COVID. This mess is not going to work very well.
