Now that we have an out of control pandemic, its the worst. Its not only bad for us, its bad for the world tourism economy. There are lost tourism and hotel jobs around the world.

I had an out of country trip planned for this year and it was cancelled. I presume it will be 2 years until I can take that trip.

Trump has hurt the American economy, and he is hurting the world economy.

I retired last August. So far I've had to cancel a trip to New Orleans, Key West, Portland Oregon, and the South of France. At this point it isn't clear when I'll get to travel again.

8. Yeah, but I remember

back during the GW Bush administration, after the start of the Iraq war, we traveled to Europe on American passports, but decided before we left that we would say we were Canadian if asked by anybody we happened to meet. The reputation of the country was that bad.

Oddly, the last time we were abroad (for spouse to work) was a week in Vienna. People must've thought we were locals for some odd reason, because every day people would approach us and ask for directions in perfect German, of which we speak about five words. It gave us this odd sense of protection, though. We weren't "detectable."

We have become a third world country thanks to the idiocy of Trump and his goons like DeSantis and Ducey, and the devastation wrought by this damn virus. It's going to take a long time to rebuild from this, and things are going to get very ugly.
