I couldn't find any temporary flight restrictions except for Mike Pants in Jacksonville, so wherever he is, it's not far from DC. I believe he owns one in the area.

5. Just wondering...

I saw something yesterday that I was uncomfortable about and I was wondering about some things.

Yesterday I was out in the riverbed area of my valley where you can see everything for at least a hundred miles where not obstructed by mountains. I grew up in the military and my father was an aviator so I am accustomed to the sound of military aircraft and can still identify a few. So when I heard the familiar sound, though louder than normal I scanned the sky to find, flying in tandem, a pair of what looked to be similar aircraft to that of AF1, both being refueled in the air as they traveled from west to east. About an hour later there were a pair of what looked more menacing large C130 sized units, one of which was being refueled traveling in the opposite direction, all at very high altitude. Later in the day I saw a couple blackhawks flying much lower in tandem as well, going east to west.

It just had an ominous vibe to it, last time I saw stuff like that was in the 60s.

I have seen the pair of passenger types before, when Obama was coming to town. Normally the military types will fly in single file when I see them. So I wonder who was traveling in them if -45 was on the east coast, I'm in Montana.

6. Could be military exercises. Are you near an air force base,

a military operations area or a military training route? Those kinds of flights might not show up on FAA NOTAMS except that there will be notifications that MOAs and MTAs are hot.

7. Not Really...

At least a couplr hundred miles from the nearest military place and that's way up north. These fixed wing deals were way too high even for anything closer than Oregon/California going west and the closest I can imagine them landing to the east would be Nebraska, like maybe Bellevue but they were pretty high up. I've seen massive aircraft coming in from the eastern Pacific headed to Rapid City and they were a lot lower than that. These units were headed someplace I would imagine. But as you suggest, it could be training for refueling or something. It just didn't seem right. The helicopters are almost common around here and I don't think those were related, could have been a Senator traveling somewhere.

Maybe I have a life-long sort of heebie jeebies when I hear or see that kind of aircraft in numbers greater than two.
