He should have insisted on a second cart.

Golf carts are bad enough, but I recognize the necessity for crowded courses and the less physically able. But caddies? That whole concept of having someone follow around, carrying the bag, and essentially bowing and scraping to serve the golfer (unless on the professional tour) strikes me as sickening.

I think someone wrote a book that exemplifies how I feel about the whole thing: 'Golf--a Good Walk Spoiled.'

YMMV. (of course)

I’ve been playing a lot of golf in the last 4 years and I have yet to see one caddy, or even the offer of a caddy service, at any of the places I’ve played. Maybe 30-40 years ago a young golfer could make some summer money working as a caddy, but those days are long gone.

I've had caddies (required of me and provided by clubs I've played at) and every one of them to a man or woman rode the cart like that.

Don't get me wrong, I see the point and hate trump even more - if possible - than 2 mins ago, but this is a thing.

When we forecaddied, we were trained that once we got the pin back in the hole, we'd run our asses off to the next fairway before the group would play the tee shots on the next hole so we were right where the balls landed and could find the balls that missed the fairway. And then we'd run up toward the green and do the same thing for the approach shots. I never rode a cart like that. (Occasionally, one of the members would give me a lift and let me sit in the seat.)

So he can be the first to the ball and cheat. I guess all the caddies know what a cheater he is but he’s a generous tipper so they all go along with it. The SS had to get some faster carts themselves to keep up with him. Him saying gold is his exercise is a joke he rides right up to his ball even on the green.

Figured walking with a bag in tow would be good exercise. Went to some small courses, just to get into the game a little before I tackled the large course....let me tell you, I have one hell of a slice.

So my first time on a large course....thinking this game is about relaxing, getting some exercise, etc. Damn, how can there be so many old angry white guys?! They all want to rush through the course. The ones in carts were the worst, moving as fast as they could to get to their ball.

On the 18th hole, the last one, getting ready to putt, when I hear a golf ball drop behind me....assholes behind us were too impatient to wait. At that point, I was pissed. Hit my putt, came close...probably would have went in if I wasn't distracted. But then said fuck it. Picked up my ball and as they were racing toward us in their carts, gave them the bird and walked away.

Never went back to the game. Come on, why are you golfing if you are in such a rush....find a different hobby.

he wanted me to learn, i shot 100 over par 😃
2 highlights i recall: on 1 tee shot whack, he and i looked forward, stared for several seconds, and after several seconds more as we looked at each other
plonk, ball landed about a foot before me 😳
and when he was trying to teach me to chip onto the green, he said
"put the ball right here" where he was standing .. "oof " he said when i nailed him in the stomach 😑
never played again, he decided for some odd reason to teach me to hunt,
at which i was fairly successful..
gave that up years ago

course. And he calls this "exercise".

He can't wait to be the first one to the next hole so he can cheat before anyone else catches up with him. What a repulsive excuse of a human being.
