FLIPPABE: Jill Dennin for PA-HD147

Jill Dennin was raised in Red Hook, NY, a small town two hours north of Manhattan. Fascinated by government and public service, Jill earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Public Policy from Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. Following graduation, she worked in Federal/ State relations in Washington, D.C.

In 1986 Jill married Ned Dennin, a 1984 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and they relocated to Virginia Beach, Virginia where she worked as the fundraising coordinator for the Virginia Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, while Ned served on the USS Mississippi.

In 1989, Jill and Ned relocated to Pennsylvania when Ned began working for Exelon. They settled down in Gilbertsville and began raising their family. Jill and Ned have four boys, ages 23- 30, all of whom graduated from Boyertown Area Senior High School. Mark, a cross country and outdoor track state champion, attended Georgetown University and works as a congressional advisor in Washington, D.C. Craig attended Syracuse University and works for Google in New York City. Scott graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and works for McAllister Tugboats in Philadelphia. Kyle graduated from Penn State University and works in Portland, Oregon for Intel.

Over the past 25 years Jill has been an active volunteer in her community, serving as the Boyertown Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) president, Cub Scout Leader and Boy Scout Committee member, an active volunteer at St. Columbkill church, coordinating the soup kitchen, a Meals on Wheels.

Volunteer, and hostess at the Pottstown Cluster of Religious Communities (PCRC). Jill also worked part time as a substitute teacher in the Boyertown Area School District in 2003 and now substitutes at the Daniel Boone School District.

Jill’s experience in the education field and with community organizations, combined with her advocacy, led her to become more involved in helping her community and fighting for our most vulnerable citizens. For the past six years Jill has served as a Boyertown Area School District school board member, winning reelection in 2017. Jill’s school board responsibilities include serving on the Pennsylvania School Board Association’s (PSBA) Legislative Advisory Council and on the Berks County Intermediate Unit’s (BCIU) Council on Legislative Action.

Jill has also accepted positions on several boards working to help local residents, including the Boyertown Area YMCA, Kennedy House Soup Kitchen in Reading, and the Pottstown Cluster of Religious Communities. She also serves as an assistant leader with the local Girl Scouts.

Eager for her next challenge, Jill is now ready to take her leadership and advocacy to Harrisburg to be a strong voice for our community.
