Ugh. My wife witnessed an anti-mask asshole at her job yesterday

My wife works as a cosmetologist at an Ulta store in CA.

Yesterday she witnessed an incident where a store clerk refused to ring up a customer’s purchase when the customer refused to put on a mask. The woman launched into the now-familiar anti-mask tirade:

* I can’t breathe right. You’re making me breathe poisons
* it’s against god's natural laws
* you’re infringing on my Constitutional rights
* tRump is great

My wife said it was like she was reading off a script.

They are understaffed right now. My wife was the only person in the salon yesterday as someone called in sick, so she had triple duty. The amount of sanitizing/cleaning they need to do between clients is very time consuming in and of itself. And of course the clients are all short tempered as they had to go without haircuts etc for months.

Signs posted prominently on the door saying "masks required for entry and throughout store" should be enough to avoid these situations. Catch them at the beginning. Install a buzzer system and only buzz in masked customers. They're not that expensive, I think.

ON EDIT: It occurred to me to point out that you don't need makeup these days if you're wearing a mask. Granted, if you're having a Zoom meeting for work (or pleasure), you may want to even out that skin tone and put on a little blush and lipstick. Otherwise, one of the great joys of the pandemic is not having to wear makeup very often. Okay, I know Ulta sells shampoos, moisturizing creams, etc. that you still need, even if you're not going outside and/or are covering your face with a mask. Still ...

Since you can't see anything but the eyes when someone has a mask on, people are just glamming the hell out of them.

For two reasons: (1) I had serious eye surgery in February (for a crazy but irritating and potentially harmful condition called entropion) and I don't want to put anything on that eye still; (2) If I'm outside at all, which is rare, I'm usually wearing sunglasses anyway.

I guess number (3) could be that I never wore heavy eye makeup in the first place (I have some beautiful shadows I haven't used in nearly six months, though), and I'm pretty lazy.
