"Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney on Monday criticized the U.S. coronavirus testing process, calling his family’s difficulties in obtaining tests and delays in the results “inexcusable” in the seventh month of the pandemic, splitting from his former boss’ repeated boasts about testing."

“I know it isn’t popular to talk about in some Republican circles, but we still have a testing problem in this country,” Mulvaney wrote in an op-ed for CNBC.

"Mulvaney, who served in Congress before leading the White House budget office and becoming chief of staff, said his son had recently been tested for the virus and had to wait up to a week for the results, and that his daughter was turned away from getting a test before she went to visit her grandparents."

Had my hair cut and colored during the lull and before our health department's mandatory mask ruling. I went early in the morning to a shop that has strict protocols in place and of course, I was masked and gloved. As were the stylists and every employee. In and out within 2 hours. The employees were very diligent, cleaning down seats, arm rests and all equipment between uses and the shop had customers spaced out. No sitting in the waiting area; they come and wave you in from the parking lot

Haven't tried the dentist yet. My front teeth need capping, about a 3-hour appt., though the dentist isn't sure what he'll find beneath the cosmetic veneers I've had in place for the last decade. Not sure how long I'll put that work off. I rescheduled my hygiene appt until October. But in all honestly, our dentist has always practiced serious safety measures. They're probably a safer bet than a lot of other businesses.

Btw, I said the same thing to my stylist: cut it shorter than normal because I don't know when I'll be back in. Took a lot off. My hair was well below my shoulders.

Since the U.S. Govt isn't helping us out, people here need work so we have to strike some sort of balance. I got my hair cut one since this started, and the shop was very careful about wearing masks, separating patrons and making everyone wait outside. We went to Macy's last week looking for furniture and there were so few people at the mall, and as long as people wear masks, I don't think it's a substantial risk. In addition, open-air malls and shops are still allowed to operate.

I see a lot of towns and restaurants are expanding open-air dining, which I think is good. We need to see more creativity like this, drive-in movies and concerts, etc.

Glad to see LAUSD and San Diego County decided to cancel all in-person school. That was a disaster waiting to happen.

Scenes from Downtown Disney’s Busy Opening Day

While most people wore masks, many people blatantly removed their masks. At restaurants, servers were forced to approach and serve tables of customers who had removed and not replaced their masks while sitting at the outdoor tables.

Lines wound outside places like Wetzel’s Pretzels, where people waited as long as 45 minutes for their snack. The temperatures were staggeringly warm and the only way to get was to purchase it from one of the overwhelmed vendors scattered throughout the outdoor mall. The longest wait we encountered was for the World Of Disney Store, which was using a timed-entry system (I had to wait about two and a half hours). Once inside, I spoke to several Disney fanatics who said they were worried about getting sick, but that they just couldn’t miss out on the chance of purchasing the limited quantity 65th anniversary merch available for the first time that day in the store.

Unfortunately, while people in lines and on the “street” were great about social distancing, the same can’t be said for people inside the store itself. Ironically, the worst place to try to shop was at one of the shelves selling Disney-themed masks (four for $20, with a limit of four per person). I was chased away repeatedly by people crowding around and leaning over me to grab items.

They should close things state wide, get things under control, then they can slowly open on a county by county basis based on the guidelines

Multiple outbreaks have happened in other countries and the remedy is the same as Newsom ordered: temporarily lock down so you can put a lid on it, reopen carefully with an eye out for hotspots. Hong Kong has recently closed schools and this morning shut down Disney World to contain a sudden infection uptick.

This is the way the world looks right now and will continue to look until an effective vaccine emerges.

deputies refuse, fire them all, in fact fire any cop, local, state or federal that refuse to enforce mandates that are intended to get this country back to functioning smoothly during this pandemic.

A breast cancer survivor even. My city mayor said they wouldn’t enforce it either. Now suddenly they’re posting photos of themselves masked on the city webpage. The governor needs to send strike teams to fine the hell out of these people. We had low cases for a while but after months of people acting like there is no pandemic that has all changed. Our hospitals are full.

I was eager for the gym to reopen and went every day for an hour at 5 am the first week and a half. Then people decided to stop wearing masks and started having casual conversations across the gaps in the blocked-off machines. Who was there to enforce the mask requirement? No one. So I left. Next time I get a chance I'm going to cancel my membership as I don't see returning any time soon.

...wasn't on the list of counties. But just got the email from them stating, even though they weren't on the list, they and the other local wineries all agreed to add additional safe guards, limiting the number of people inside even more, requiring reservations, etc.

In other words, they don't want to end up on the list.

Some businesses have already said that they will defy this order, and at least one county sheriff has said that he will not enforce it.

The governor sent strike teams here to hold business accountable. Also he offered incentives to city governments to enforce the mandate. IMO if you hold a position in city government and for whatever reason you fail to do your sworn duty, you should be immediately fired.

You could try to sue to force them to comply but that could be tied up in the courts for weeks or months, meanwhile more people will die.

In any case he isn’t going to do that. I live in CA22 which is traitor nunes district so honestly it’s not a surprise. It’s just indicative of how pathetic a place we find ourselves in this country.

that a governor can fire a sheriff. Governors can't just go around firing elected officials.

If you searched google you read that. I clearly stated it wasn’t going to happen. I don’t have time to argue about something I stipulated from the start would not happen.
