Man, 37, who died from coronavirus had dismissed pandemic as 'hype' on Facebook

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/facebook-coronavirus-hype-richard-rose-dead-symptoms-a9615706.html

An Ohio man who died of Covid-19 had repeatedly posted on Facebook about his scepticism of the outbreak – and a tweet containing a montage of his posts is now going viral.

Richard Rose, 37, died at home in Port Clinton on 4 July just days after he tested positive for Covid-19. The montage of his posts spreading on social media, which has been viewed 3.5 million times, shows that he tested positive and was quarantined on 1 July, when he was already viewing symptoms.

After telling a friend he had no idea where he contracted the disease, he posted on 2 July that “this covid shit sucks! I’m so out of breath just sitting here”. That is the last post featured from before his death.

However, it is Mr Rose’s earlier posts that have drawn the most attention.

Along with checking in at crowded venues, Mr Rose had posted criticism of the Black Lives Matter protests following the killing of George Floyd, calling the movement “a joke” for supposedly inciting violence while posting the pro-police slogans #BacktheBlue and #ThinBlueLine.

Mr Rose also mocked Islamic face coverings and shared a meme dismissing the mainstream media and mocking the idea that gender is non-binary while saying “Trump 2020!”

Alongside these, he dismissed the risk of the pandemic, saying “I’m not buying a f***ing mask” and that “I’ve made it this far by not buying into that damn hype”.

virus was a hoax died in the hospital ICU. His las words to the nurses were "I guess I was wrong!" I hope this story gets aired on enough radio, TV & net sites that the current non-believers hear it. Give them something to think about as they try to fall asleep at night.

Something about his devoutly religious friends being surprised when they see him in heaven. I guess he ultimately knew, before he died, what he did to himself. Which, even though clearly he was an ideologue who let himself be convinced to ignore science, is kinda' sad.

And even him. I certainly do. I’m sad he died. And feel bad for his family.

But gallows humor is a symptom of a heathy society. Because we realize any of us could die of this. I’m way more likely to die than he was. 20 years older and I have high BP, easily controlled with medication and I’m over weight.

So if I get this shit I’m at risk. And my wife is older and at more risk.

So when a guy who laughed it off las a hoax died it is natural to make fun. He was whistling by the graveyard. We make fun of that.

We are all frightened. Humor keeps us sane.

I should celebrate every COVID death of a right-winger who doesn't act nor believe as I do.

Further, I should hope that their death was a horrible, painful one and that they were terrified and alone when then died.

And of course what would make it even better, is if their family and friends are devastated by the loss and collectively learn their lesson (but not before more of them die of course) - all so that I can feel superior.

What was I thinking?

It is what is, my friend. One reaps what they sow.

CDC guidelines to quarantine but refuse to
wear a mask. How many refuse to quarantine or to believe they have it? One news story said a guy with multiple organ failure from COVID-19 was yelling at the doctor that he did not have the virus and it’s a hoax.
