A new poll found nearly three-quarters of American parents are worried about school reopenings, including a majority of Republicans.
A whopping 71% of American parents say that sending children back to school in the fall is risky, according to a new Axios/Ipsos poll about Americans' feelings about the coronavirus released on Tuesday.
The poll comes as Donald Trump and members of his administration, including Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, push for full school reopenings this fall even as the virus is surging in many states across the country.
The administration is pushing for the reopenings despite giving little guidance to school districts.
Trump has urged districts to ignore guidelines released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, calling them too "tough" and "expensive" to implement, and has even threatened to pull funding from schools that do not ignore the CDC guidelines to open fully.

I got one "stupid" question does anyone see a correlation in what they, this treasonous administration did about this virus being a hoax, and what they the governors did in Florida, Texas and Arizona, does anyone not think that if you open the schools that this fiascoes will just go away with kids being in school............that some magic fairly will shield these kids, staff and teachers.................teachers and staff should not be grouped in as healthcare workers combating a deadly virus.................

Before 9th grade and after 10th grade, it would be a no brainer - my kids would do homeschooling or online schooling (before 9th the classes don't count towards graduation and after 10th most of the classes could be college classes anyway).

The denial is strong in this one.

(34,661 posts)Arizona should be the number 1 reason for not opening schools. Here in Nevada it is the Gaming Industry who is pushing opening up Schools in order to get their Female Workers back to their Hotels. Nothing more and nothing less.
Plus,we are in deep poop with our Unemployment System funds. We have already used more than 50% of its reserves and Federal Borrowing from emergency funds is in real doubt.
The biggee looming is the ending of the Rent Moratorium on Labor Day as well as the foreclosure Moratorium. Here is a hard case local estimate of persons being Homeless by September 1 if Federal Dollars do not hit our state. And this comes from the State,279,000 to 372,000 people. That is 10% of our State.
