General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhen Trump was 13, his little brother dumped a bowl of mashed potatoes over his head while seated at
the dinner table.
Listening to Mary Trump's audio book and she says when it happened everyone just laughed and laughed. Howled actually.
Donald loved to torment his little brother, and it was one rare occasion little brother got some much deserved revenge.
Trump's sister brought it up again when they had dinner at the White House shortly after Don's inauguration. Again, more laughter. From everyone but Trump.
As a matter of fact, every time it's brought up Trump dies a little bit inside. He has never been able to get over the humiliation.
It would be a shame if someone posted the incident on his Twitter page.
Really it would.

(16,616 posts)I've ordered her book, but it might be worthwhile to hear her narrate her own work.
This is a great anecdote. Thanks for sharing.
The authors of The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump theorized that it's Trump's unwillingness to experience emotions like humiliation and shame that led to his aberrant character development. So I find this fascinating.

trump takes himself VERY seriously... and petty revenge is what he does.
Obama is self-deprecating... because his ego is not the fragile flower that trump's is.

(19,201 posts)Trump's aspirations for the White House go back to the 1990s. To Trump, a black man being elected to the White House before him, was something that stuck in his craw, and indeed still does.
When President Obama teased him Trump's expression never changed. You could tell the pressure was rising inside Trump's vacuous skull. He has no sense of self-deprecation, almost no sense of humor whatsoever. He's devoid of humility, has no sense of moral imperatives, and his egomania is without compare. Any person who is so divorced from normal human characteristics, who has such a dark, demented mind, has absolutely no business anywhere near the seat of any power, let alone the most powerful seat in the world.

(7,414 posts)1) it brings to mind Donald Trump's absolute mania about being laughed at. Is this the source, or just part of it?
2) In the families I've known, one or more parents would have leapt up, angered by such behavior at the dinner table. They would have likely made the younger brother apologize and then punished him. Fred Trump's bunch were content to pile on the humiliation instead.

But, boy, I can just hear her holler about the mess, lol.
One thing for sure, at the moment, she'd never laugh ... at least, until she was telling the story, and then she would laugh at how she gave me the dickens over it.
