When will Trumpsters figure out their idol couldn't care less about them?
They stood center stage before a cheering crowd of thousands five years ago, shaking hands in a half embrace that seemed to cement a political and ideological bond that would serve as the foundation for Donald Trumps presidency
We have a man here who really helped me and he was the one person I sought his counsel, because hes been so spot on. Hes so highly respected. Has anybody ever heard of Senator Jeff Sessions? Huh? Jeff, come up, wheres Jeff? Get over here, Jeff, the former reality TV show host said to a roaring ovation in August 2015.
Donald, welcome to my hometown, Mobile, Alabama, then-Sen. Sessions (R-Ala.) said, donning a white Make America Great Again cap. The American people, these people, want somebody in the presidency who stands up for them, defends their interests and the laws and traditions of this country.
That once remarkable bond came to a crashing end Tuesday night when the Associated Press declared that Tommy Tuberville had defeated Sessions in the run off to be the Republican nominee in Novembers Senate race against Sen. Doug Jones (D-Ala.). The result came after Trump spent the past four months imploring Alabamas voters to reject Sessions, the man who the president once said he leaned on for advice in forming his America First agenda.

(15,512 posts)Trump deserves no praise I hasten to add, but in this case as in the case of FBI chief Comey, he did the right thing for the wrong reasons. Still doesn't expiate his hiring Sessions in the first place which is unforgivable.

Fight like hell Doug Jones!

(25,183 posts)Trump maintain control over the GOP. He's had a fairly lousy record in recommending primary candidates so far this year, but Sessions going down gives Trump some power over the Republicons.
If, heaven forbid, he were to win a second term, he'd be ruthless, and the GOP'ers now know it.
