OK. I’m done with Mary Trump’s book. Basically the President is, psychologically-speaking, a Frankenstein-like amalgamation of Idi Amin, John Gotti, Bernie Madoff, and Nell (the jungle-child character played by Jodie Foster). I need a drink

For those asking whether you should read the book, even though the above might be obvious — read the book. Seeing these qualities played out in the context of ordinary family interactions and dramas — dinners, weddings, births and funerals — is uniquely horrifying and educational

that I'm not yet ready to contemplate the excuses of her revealed dismal family dynamics as explained by Mary, a well-trained clinical psychologist, to explain Dimwit's behavioral profile within the family...and continue to wonder how bad the damage must get for an individual to make a free will decision to make better choices than those that seem to come so naturally and/or genetically-shaped to the Grifter in Chief, for which Mary also carries familial DNA (So sorry for your loss, Mary). It's great that she's taken some personal responsibility by virtue of her training and presence as a later-ingredient to the bitter soup that is the Trump family; that introspective insight that is just beyond what little cognitive abilities he seems to have attained through all those years. I've read that one's personality traits do become more exaggerated and "warped" as one advances to old age if so-shaped from DNA and "learned" in childhood. Maybe it's just a personal bias that there's hope that a person, at any age, can find the resources, inside one's head, and/or out, to do better in the name of kindness, gratitude, and honesty - I have never felt he's ever been so inclined.
