Re: Trump's Taxes.....

We've been told all this time by Trump that his taxes are under audit. This has been going on since most likely 2015-16 when he first through his name in the hat to run for president. Now as a person - I have to file for my taxes every year. Trump would have to also file taxes each year.

So I'm not exactly sure how the IRS works when they audit someone's taxes - but I'm assuming that they finish the audit within that year so as the next filing for tax by the individual or company in the next year can be filed and it is done without the same errors, omissions or issues of the previous filing which was under audit.

I'm also assuming - because the IRS has possession of the tax filing - that in the audit they would find any discrepancies, errors and omissions and issues and let the filer know what those are and hold the filer responsible for any errors and fine the filer for trying to defraud the government or pull the wool over their eyes.

I don't think the IRS would want a multi-year back-up of tax filings by a person that was trying to get away with tax fraud.

Now - with Trump using the excuse of being under audit all this time - my question - Is the IRS doing its job? If there were issues/problems - wouldn't they be the agency to find them? They are the government body that is responsible for the veracity of tax filings. Aren't they?

What exactly is the job of the IRS in relation to Trump's taxes? If Trump is trying to pull a fast one on his taxes - isn't the IRS the correct government agency to find and correct that situation?

Really - how long does an audit take?

describing the audit, what year, what items, etc.

So, IF Trump is "under audit" he would have a letter from the IRS telling him.

All he has to do is show that to prove he's really "under audit." Failing that, you can safely assume it's bullshit.

Former Lifelock spokesperson Rudy Giuliani tells Salon that the audits of President Trump's tax returns have been "completed and accepted," except for "possibly not most recent."

Giuliani was confirming claims he made Sunday morning to Fox News host Maria Bartiromo. This new story, however, seems to undermine the president's excuse that he can't release his returns because they are under audit, a line he has been repeating since the 2016 campaign.

Last Thursday, following the Supreme Court's 7-2 ruling that the Manhattan district attorney can subpoena the president's tax returns, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany repeated the excuse to reporters, saying, "The media's been asking this question for four years, and for four years, the president has said the same thing, his taxes are under audit, and when they're no longer under audit, he will release them."

In a separate case about Congress requesting the president's financial documents, which the court effectively delayed until after the election, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had pushed the audit issue with one of Trump's attorneys, who avoided responding directly.

"Every president voluntarily turned over his tax returns, so it gets to be a pitched battle, because President Trump is the first one to refuse to do that," she said this spring. "Initially, he said because of an audit was ongoing. Now, it seems to be broader than that."

Why Turd keeps him around is a mystery. Maybe because Ghouliani knows all about the Epstein situation.

3. Audits

No, that's not the issue, "audits" was an excuse that's been invalidated. The real issue is that there is info regarding his "operations" being funded by Russian "banks" for quite some time now.

isn't it the job of the IRS to expose that information?

They audited. They found issues. Don't they need to do something to take the audit that they just performed to completion?

If you or I were trying to defraud the government through bogus tax filings - we'd wind up in jail.
And the issue may be that we just didn't declare some income or claimed deductions that weren't allowable or took losses that didn't happen.

Why is Trump - at his level - able to get away with such a big issue (like you say) 'operations' being funded by Russian banks or maybe even potential money laundering. If the IRS is not responsible for outing that information - wouldn't they have to turn it over to some other government agency that was responsible for criminal acts?

The presence of an audit has nothing to do with the legal requirement for the IRS to hand Trump's returns to the Congress upon request. The law is clear and has stood for a century.
