BREAKING: In the Middle of a Pandemic, Texas Democrats Break the Record for Highest Turnout in Texas

https://www.texasdemocrats.org/media/breaking-in-the-middle-of-a-pandemic-texas-democrats-break-the-record-for-highest-turnout-in-texas-democratic-runoff-history/?fbclid=IwAR3TnUMqKOjsyDhYbVxeEf7K1JA-QRyMav25PhWTC-Cq6Umxel_8AkxLWuI

"Austin, TX — Yesterday, in the middle of a pandemic, Texas Democrats broke the record for highest turnout in a runoff election in Texas Democratic history with a staggering 955,735 number of votes cast with 100% of the precincts reporting.

This breaks the Texas Democratic runoff record of 1994’s 746,641 runoff voters and is more than double the runoff turnout for the 2018 Democratic gubernatorial runoff, which featured 432,180 voters.

Texas Democrats are ready to win. Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:
“In the middle of a pandemic, Texas Democrats showed we are ready to win with nearly a million Texans doing whatever it takes to have their voice heard. We broke the Texas Democratic record for turnout in a runoff election, more than doubling our 2018 runoff turnout.

“Republicans like Greg Abbott, Ken Paxton, and the Texas Republican Supreme Court did everything in their power to stop Texans from voting. It didn’t work. Texans will not be deterred. We will continue our fight to expand access to the ballot box and protect every Texan’s right to vote, but this election showed that Texas Democrats are fired up and are ready for change.

“Texas is the biggest battleground state in the country. There is unprecedented energy across our great state, and Texas Democrats are putting in the hard work to turn Texas blue in November. This is our moment.”
___________________________________________________________________________

Folks, TX is now a SWING STATE & VERY MUCH A BATTLEGROUND TO FIGHT FOR. If Joe can win in TX he wins the presidency. I'm posting here as we are 3 months from November and TX is very much in play in national politics.

With all polling places tallied Thursday, Democrats had cast 2,076,046 votes in the pitched contest to take on President Donald Trump in November. Meanwhile, Republicans cast 2,008,385 votes in the presidential contest. Overall, a small majority of votes — 2,071,745 — came during early voting, and 2,012,686 were cast on election day, according to the Texas secretary of state’s office.

Country officials are Democrats, and they control county records. When the state tried a voter purge a couple of years ago, it backfired on them because country officials stepped up and showed how the state lists were wrong. I voted in person and felt safer than going to the grocery. I sent my country clerk an email thanking her for the organization and safety precautions.

Of course, in November the numbers will be far greater with more voting locations needed. I suggested that if more poll workers are needed, the National Guard should be trained to staff the polls. That would work in every state that relies on older, retired people to staff the polls but who are fearful of performing that service this year.

So yes Texas is in play. Beto has been doing a great job getting more people registered, as has the local Democratic Party. OMG, I would be so excited to see Texas give the presidency to Biden!

I felt betrayed beyond words that Texans would fall for his bs. Over the years since, I found that for all the rw idiots I’d interact with, there are more Texans who are reasonable people that want to be included in the conversation of how government can be more reflective of and responsive to their views and needs.

Beto helped prove you can’t discount Texas anymore, and it gives me hope for other southern states that views can change for the better.

Are some mighty fine numbers up there.

Go Texas, Go!!!

except for one guy who stood 6 feet away and asked if we had masks. Which we did. And Gloves.
face shields for the workers and the coolest thing ever for sanitizing the stylus for the ePollbooks! We had wipes to clean the screens, plenty of hand sanitizer.

Interestingly, the Republican Lead Judge took it upon himself to stand 12 feet from the entrance and ask which party .. However one of our voters told us she wouldn't ever go over there because she did not want to catch the "stupid virus" She cracked us up. Turns out she is in my State House district and I walked out with her and gave her a yard sign for our candidate.

That is a LOT of voters for a runoff. We did have more exciting and publicized races than they did though, (they had one judicial post, we had US Senate, Congressional Representative and a Constable. plus Fort Worth's Democrats had their knickers in a twist over a tax issue.

My daughter was the election clerk and at 7:00p.m. the eight people on the list of voters were all associated with the three families of known democrats in our precinct (my family being one of them). I can count over 20 trump flags and signs in our precinct alone. I am pretty sure that Trump has maintained or improved his standing in rural Texas. If Texas turns blue, the urban and suburban areas have to surge to a point that it can overwhelm the rural and small towns. I will help try, but I don't think it will happen this election cycle. I am surrounded by red in my rural county.
