the only thing that will get people to take this seriously.

Seeing the news that the Governor of Oklahoma has tested positive for COVID-19 brought something to mind:

The only way some people are going to take COVID seriously is if a public figure they respect gets very seriously sick or dies from it.

We see occasional reports of people who attended rallies and later got sick. Sometimes, these people are even named. But I don't think it will matter until a big name on Fox "News" or a member of the cabinet (or Trump himself) becomes a victim.

That might open their eyes.

Or maybe not. I've never seen such resistance to reality before.

To make them pay attention, it has to be someone healthy - and even then, they'll probably rationalize that the person had some kind of hidden health problem, and that's what killed them.

I don't want someone I'm fond of, being the one who gets it and dies.

Herman Cain perhaps? Kid Rock? Kanye? Kim? I'm good with those for sure.

And another thing that is true: If Obama had been POTUS, the right would already be screaming that he killed Joe Diffey and John Prine. Hell, there'd be impeachment hearings if this happened under Obama.

entrances and occasionally walking the store. Pinheads where I live will threaten store employees that ask them to mask up. But if they know their asses will be led away in handcuff for trespassing and being a public nuisance, maybe they will have second thoughts about being assholes.

You're probably right.
Something like that needs to happen for the right.
Trump dying of Covid-19 would be the best thing for the country but it's unlikely to happen.

It's gotta hit close to home.

Well, OK - maybe if it was Falwell, Graham, Osteen, Copeland, Hinn, or Trump's religious lady, Paula White.
