US Postmaster General tells postal workers to leave mail behind if it slows down their route

The US Postal Service's new Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, has established new cost-saving policies that could slow down mail service. Mail carriers are being told to leave mail behind at distribution centers rather than taking late trips, taking extra trips, or logging overtime, according to memos first reported on by The Washington Post and subsequently reviewed by Business Insider.

The changes, established by the USPS's new Postmaster General were disseminated Monday in memos that were viewed by The Post, verified by the American Postal Workers Union, and corroborated to The Post by three people with knowledge of the documents who spoke under the condition of anonymity. Business Insider also obtained and reviewed the memos. In the documents, DeJoy instructed workers to stop logging overtime and to leave mail at distribution centers if it would delay their route.

This new directive goes against the training postal workers traditionally receive, which says they should avoid leaving letters behind and should make sure items are delivered promptly, even if that means making multiple trips, The Post notes. "One aspect of these changes that may be difficult for employees is that — temporarily — we may see mail left behind or mail on the workroom floor or docks," a second memo states. In the same document, the USPS said that late trips and extra trips are now prohibited.

At the time of his naming as Postmaster General, DeJoy was president of LDJ Global Strategies, a Greensboro, North Carolina-based, boutique firm ... Mark Dimondstein, the current president of the American Postal Workers Union, wrote in a letter that "the APWU is deeply concerned with the appointment process to make Mr. Louis DeJoy, a multi-million-dollar major donor to President Trump, the next Postmaster General."

Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) noted that his career as a political operative and close ties to the president and Republican Party would threaten the non-partisan nature of the Postal Service.

have no problems, and though this will be our first year, I doubt we will have problems. When people who run elections care about having free, fair, and secure elections, they manage to have them. I guess like everything, it depends on where you live, and who you've elected to count your vote.

everyday for a week, but still not delivered to me (I live about a mile away). Meanwhile, the phone at that Post Office is constantly busy and the national customer service phone line is a total joke.

Put the most inept people in charge that he can find. That's all he can find for his corrupt administration.

Question: Are these directly dictated from the kremlin or is he just stupid enough to do it himself?
