Despite attempts to distance the White House from adviser Peter Navarros op-ed attacking Dr. Anthony Fauci, a Trump administration official told the Los Angeles Times that Navarro had President Trumps permission to write the column.
Said the official: Not only was he authorized by Trump, he was encouraged.
The Atlantic: Targeting Fauci seems like a tragic misuse of White House time and energy if officials aim is to defeat the coronavirus. But Trump appears more concerned with discrediting Fauci.

(82,849 posts)On the one hand, we have Dr. Fauci, one of the world's leading epidemiologists, who's been in the public health sector for decades. He's doing his best to get good, reliable, scientific information out to the public to protect themselves during the Covid-19 pandemic.
On the other hand, we have Vladimir Putin, former chief spook of the Soviet Union and current grand pooh-bah of Russia, a nation with long-standing hostility to the United States. He's paying mercenaries in Afghanistan to kill American troops stationed there.
Which one does the White House send Peter Navarro out to threaten?
