It's a quarantine on people, not goods. so it just means Ohioans who planned to go to NY have to stay home (more $ for Ohio) or go somewhere else (neutral)

My county is Level III, but we've never stopped sheltering at home, or only doing low-risk things, so it won't affect us much. My guess is maybe he'll shut down bars and indoor dining again, which never should have been opened when they were. I can't imagine that's not a huge factor in Ohio's suddenly going up.

I'm mostly still sheltering in place for another month (then I teach classes of up to 80 students).

I was so disappointed when he withdrew the mask order, and then again when he ignored the national recommendations for 14 days at one phase before going to the next. We had not even reached stability before the first phase of reopening, let alone between the 1st reopening and the 2nd. Without a doubt a factor - mask compliance was ~50% (and about 0% in high risk areas like bars).

I suspect, since Wednesday is the day they look at the county-by-county data that one or more of the 3 counties that were close to level IV (the worst outbreaks) are now firmly in Level IV. They were technically there last week, but they gave them one week to get their act together (but the mask order didn't start until Friday - so not much chance for an impact and this is about the time to start seeing cases from the 4th of July festivities.

If there are Level IV counties, he probably just wants a prime time audience to make sure the message gets out about the consequences of being in level IV (which might mean shutting down individual counties).

There were 12 level III counties (up from 7 the prior week). Mask orders went into effect there last Friday. Of the Level III counties, 3 were technically Level IV (up from 1 the prior week).

Is it too soon to say, "I told you so" about the lack of a mask order and the fast reopen???

Schools are district by district - so not likely to come in tonight's press conference.

I've been watching his press conferences since they started - and his normal pattern is pep talk/encouragement - than an order that mandates what he was encouraged. I hoped that was what he was working up to - but I was wrong.

I am disappointed. I was hoping for a state-wide mandate. If it's not mandatory, it ain't gonna happen.

So much uncertainty.

As of now, it is intended to be on campus even though many of the classes are online anyway. The experience is going to be a shadow of what it should be. But still better than being completely remote.

I am not afraid of her going. I am afraid of her staying in her room for the next year.

Finishing her senior year of high school on line was an awful experience for her.

I do worry about her well being if she gets stuck here.

Actually getting cv at school is a concern but we live in a hot spot here as well.

I get why others would prioritize differently but that is what would be best for her

could have a huge impact on politics there

Ohio St. 6, Toledo 1, Dayton 1, Bowling Green 1, Xavier 1 broadcast sports on 10 limbaugh stations. all those stations called COVID a hoax for 2 months, following trump's friend and putin tool limbaugh's lead

limbaugh is still alive, defending trump, trashing BLM and protestors, and denying COVID. not outright calling it a hoax anymore but downplaying the seriousness (less deaths from COVID than by shootings!) and making sure plenty of idiots don't wear masks. most local blowhards on rw stations had been doing the same before the recent resurgence, following limbaugh's lead, and maybe some are seeing some sense but all the lying sacks of shit on those stations are responsible for this disaster.

and there are at least 260 limbagh stations denying COVID and making fun of masks, supported by 86 other unis like ohio state

just got back from taking my elderly mother in to town for teeth and i can't stop my brain from repeating "you stupid fucking republicans", over and over and over

A mandatory mask law with strong consequences is needed to reflaten the curve but Dewine won’t go there.
