From the article:
Trump was asked by CBS News, You understand why the flag is a painful symbol for many people because its a reminder of slavery.
Trump answered, People love it. I know people that love the confederate flag and not thinking of slavery. NASCAR, the flags all over the I think its freedom of speech, whether its confederate flags or black lives matter or anything else you want to talk about. Its freedom of speech.
This is a free country and you're free to wave either one and decent people are free to say you are an awful human being that should be ostracized.

I don't believe history has judged the Confederacy as a "criminal" regime despite their rebellion and secession.
Both were based on terrible ideologies.

Government agencies need to stick with the appropriate government flags.
And thank you Mississippi for finally moving into the current century by entertaining changes to your racist rag.

Let John Fogerty write something more patriotic. He loves this country more than the suits do.

(6,448 posts)God Bless America wasn't even a consideration to me because of the separation clause and the Kate Smith revelation.
Plus, after 9/11, the sentiment became "God bless America and to hell with everyone else." (This was way before the newest idiot began discussing his damn wall.)
