Interesting article saying that populations will be drastically lower at the end of the century and the trouble it will cause. We're building walls within years of needing to beg them to come.

The Earth will deal with whatever we throw at it, overpopulation, underpopulation, pollution, nuclear war, pestilence. End the end, the Earth will move on in time, with or without us.

(3,557 posts)With the advancement in AI and robots performing complex tasks such as surgeries, Im not worried about wholl be there to take care of the aging.
Just think about how this would change our growth-dependent economy. Consumption will invariable decrease as well as markets for goods. Thisll have a huge impact on how our economies operate.
Perhaps Im just overly optimistic about the future, but I dont doubt that well be able to overcome the pressing issue of climate change and others. I wish I could be around to see what that will look like Im another 100 years. Itll be exciting, thats for sure.

With what we are currently doing to the environment, I think it's possible that there could be a much more dramatic crash than what they're projecting.
I'm personally far more worried about the mass extinctions happening now and in the future.
The tripling of population in Sub Saharan Africa means that all the African great apes are almost certainly doomed, along with most other African wildlife.
